Food around Great Ayton

I know one of our members was in the trade in Great Ayton and moved on with the chef I believe.

Was it Randy?

Can anyone recommend good grub in the area - pub food or restaurant.

Spending a few days around Guisborough so any recommendations welcome.

TIA.

Black Horse Inn (Swainby) - pub grub.
Blackwell Ox (Carlton in Cleveland) - Thai food.

Randy is at the Buck now… excellent grub there. Always very busy though, so you might have to book, especially on a weekend.

The Poor House do nice wood fired pizzas on a weekend.

Joplins restaurant is a bit more upmarket and specialise in fish.

Whinstone view a mile down the road does nice food too, usual bar meal type stuff

Whin stone view and the tree bridge are decent bar meal type places. The fish and chip shop in Great Ayton is good.

Pinchinthorpe hall is supposed to be good as well but I've not been since it reopened.

Yes I'm at The Buck now. Get yourself down fella. Best parmos in the area, stone fired pizzas on an evening and a specials board that currently has a 14oz sharing steak platter on it, amongst other dishes. I'll be back there Saturday.

Black Horse at Swainby was poor when we went a few weeks back. They’ve redecorated inside and it looks cheap and tacky. Not a nice place to eat.
If you are looking for a pre-meal pint, I can highly recommend The Quarry Stone pub in Great Ayton. Very small but elegant inside and great beer.

Decent little crawl in the village now you can start at the quarry, visit the oak then the tannery and finish at the buck or in reverse.

Bay Horse and Jet Miners a bit further up the road in gt broughton are spot on. Best rib eye i've ever had from jet miners a few weeks ago.

But also a +1 for where @Randy works, ridiculously good parmos.

We called in the Buck on our way home from Northallerton today and enjoyed the food on offer for a very reasonable price.

Friendly staff and good service.
