Focus on the best & my favourite GK Jim Platt

Legend....and such a nice man....his stories about playing wirh George best and starting out at Liverpool as a striker..love it...

Wonder if he ever met Bjorn Borg....was more of a Connors fan myself....
I was a big Bjorn fan, probably because of ABBA too 😁
One of my favourite tennis matches was about 1981 Wimbledon mens semi final Connors v Borg, Connors was leading 2 sets to live, Borg won 3-2 in the end, great game, I think it was the final Borg played McEnroe for the 1st time & beat him

It was a bit strange after 1981
Borg went into a 'break' and Connors came back to the top and won Wimbledon and the US Open in 1982 and US Open in 1983, before McEnroe took over big time
Borg never came back to the top

Vitas Gueralitis was probably the more famous of the two. Flamboyant on and off the court. A bit of a playboy who took Borg under his wing in New York. Never won Wimbledon but reached two semi-finals in the 70s.

I probably only remember Guillermo Vilas because I kept getting him mixed up with Vitas Gueralitis. Similar but reversed names and they both had lovely flowing locks.

Yeah you know I think Schwarzer just pips him Platt was a hero of mine growing up. A very popular player and. good guy, nice to see him still going to the match. A link to days gone by and Ayresome...👍
Know him well Nobby, speak to him a lot at former player reunions, lovely man, looking forward to seeing him again at the 73-74 reunion dinner
