Somewhat scared. Strikes me as it will be everywhere before long (if it's not already, given that it possibly takes up to nearly a month to show itself in some cases), and whilst I at 44 should be okay when and if I get it, both my parents are in their eighties and not necessarily in good health anyway.

I take a very similar view, and I'm borderline 'Very scared'. To quote The War Of The Worlds:

"It seems totally incredible to me now,
that everyone spent that evening
as though it were just like any other.
From the railway station came the sound
of shunting trains, ringing and rumbling,
softened almost into melody by the distance.
It all seemed so safe and tranquil."

For myself? Not in the slightest bit scared, I'll be fine.

But I know plenty of older people who'd be at real risk if it popped up on Teesside and spread, so I'm concerned in that regard.

The question maybe should be - will you be fine if there isn't a hospital place for you if you get pneumonia?

News this morning that a fog has contracted it from a human in Hong Kong. Who knows how animals will affect its mutation.

Jesus, the weather is catching it now. We are all doomed.

Actually in reality I reckon it'll be a bit rough to begin with, there are bound to be a lot more cases but then it may die down. I can't see it lasting out the summer.

Dan: Ironic quote when you consider how that particular play ended!

That's the issue, SmallTown. Such viruses devastate in weeks/months, with no chance of vaccine in such a time period.

:)
Dog

At 60% increase in cases per day, the whole UK population will have it in 3 weeks.

Oh we won’t get a vaccine and it will spread but it’s only slightly deadlier than the flu we get every year. We don’t shut down sporting events and ground flights every year because it’s flu season, or Norovirus season which although FAR less deadly is far more infectious.

I just don’t think we should panic. The majority of us will get it, the vast majority of those will be fine. Then it’ll go away until next year. Hopefully a vaccine will be closer by then

Depends what you mean by concerned? Scared? No not at all. I've got tickets to the 2 group games and a quarter final of the Euros in Rome though so it could balls up my plans a bit.

I am reasonably fit and packed in the fags 6 months ago. I do have T2 Diabetes though so sometimes find it hard to shake things off. I am concerned and hate having to get the tube to work as many people cough and sneeze and make no effort to cover their mouths. If it hits London or the other big cities I think this could be very bad. It's not me so much I am worried about but others who are more vulnerable. Nor do I think the government are in any way capable or dealing with it.

I’m not personally worried - feel sorry for the sick and elderly though. I never get colds or flu despite my wife’s best attempts to infect me when she has one 🤣
