Flying - Safe or Not

Data and recent reports seem to show that flying itself is very safe in the cabin but the danger seems to be at the airport.

I've flown internally in the US (3 times) and my kids have both flown internationally. I echo what is said above, if you're happy to keep your mask on flying is pretty safe, especially if you can sit alone, but just avoid d***heads in the airport, keep a mask on and don't touch your face/wash your hands.

Flown three times since July, airports so dead you couldn’t run around and catch it if you tried. Planes are said to be safe and where I’m currently at abroad it’s far far safer than home.

I went to Germany from Newcastle. The plane was maybe a quarter full. The airports themselves were practically empty. Nice easy passages. Was awesome. ;)

Went to Turkey with Jet 2 from Newcastle about a month ago. Airport was not too busy. Only difference with flying last year was wearing a mask. No social distancing in lounges awaiting boarding, boarding plane or seating on plane. People still queuing for toilets. No hand sanitiser in toilets which surprised me but I suppose a good hand wash is just as good. Made me laugh during pilots briefing when he asked people to avoid touch internal surfaces on aircraft as much as possible. Difficult when you are like a sardine in a tin.
