First regular pub

The Queens Arms ( “The Blood Tub”) in Brotton. Never known why it is called “The Blood Tub”, probably goes back to when it was a mining village.

I totally misread that, I thought he was asking which pub re-opening was your regular.

I first started drinking in the Royal around 77/8. Les Atkin set up a football team out of there and it was just before I left school and started down Smith's Dock. Kev Healey and Mick O'Neil got me to play for them.

The landlord, Derek Orlopp knew my dad and he knew exactly how old I was. He came and sat next to me one day and said 'you are Tommy's lad, the one who is 18.' Being a bit green round the gills, I replied ' I'm only 16.'

The Telstar in Billingham. Was a great pub in the 70s. It had 4 bars and the one I drank in was the broken jaw. Lots of good hard working hard drinking lads who had each other's backs whatever happened. Plus the Newcastle exhibition was the best I ever tasted.

Who was the lad ( who regrettably I understand died ) who used to wear the denim shorts with a big bunch of keys ? He appeared to be leader of the pack .

I used to love buying records from the lad on the bike who apparently used to be a cracking cricketer . Wonder if he’s still going

Christ, forgot about him - long haired, hippy type - I bought a few albums off him in the Linny!

Linny.. 86, 1st pint when I was 15. Roy new me but asked, if I was close to 18... yep ;)
