First record or cd you ever bought?

Received as present: Pinky and Perky EP

Influenced the Bee Gees.

First bought: LP - Bumpers,

(very good Island label sampler, still have it).

Single 'Born on the Wrong Side of Time' Taste

(Long since gone, but it had an error on the label 'Born on the wrong side of town'
which might make it valuable, should anyone come across it).
 
Album wise I bought the Beatles' Please Please and Sonny Boy Williamson's Down and Out Blues at the same time, 32/6 (£1.32.5 in decimal currency) each I think in Smiths at the bottom end of Linthorpe Rd. Not 100% sure re singles but it would have been from Sykes record shop opposite the old United bus station. It could have been a cheesy Cliff Richard or Pinky and Perky 45 but I'd like to think it was this, cool as fcuk
 
Blondie - The tide is high. We didn't even have a record player at home so took it to the junior school disco every week. The DJ eventually got sick of it and asked me to stop bringing it.
 
Oh dear.....first single was My Coo Ca Choo by Alvin Stardust. Street cred slightly redeemed by first album - Bowie's Aladdin Sane. Fond memories of eyes popping out to the lyrics of Time!
 
I remember buying 50p LPs from Woolies, MFP type stuff.

First proper chart single was Something Better Change by the Stranglers - Woolies in Whitby.

First proper Album was Drastic Plastic by Mott the Hoople - downstairs in Boots in the Cleveland Centre

I didn't have a paper round when at School and most of my pocket money went on Boro games, so little cash for music, until I got my first student grant and suddenly I had nearly £20 per week disposable income about £130 in today's money.
 
Got a CD player for Christmas and a £5 Our Price Voucher… used it to buy 2 singles… East 17 - Stay Now, and Jimmy Nail - Crocodile Shoes (classic)
 
It was actually brown sauce feom swap shop containing noel.edmonds John craven Maggie Philbin and Keith " stumpy " chegwin
The song was called I just wanna be a winner ....charity thing

But my first real record was Billy idol rebel yell which makes me bristle with pride.
