Fire in L. A.

I'm not saying that at all - stop putting words in my mouth.

I'm saying regular people shouldn't care.
I’m trying to work out what you are saying. And sorry I care about people. I don’t know what a “regular” person is. I’m sure, though, you regard yourself as one, so I’ll ask it another way: why was your childhood more important than, say, Paris Hilton’s? Which not to put words in your mouth, is what you seek to be suggesting by you cold reaction to people losing their homes

At the risk of being accused of whataboutery, there are far more things in the world for me to be concerned about than Paris Hilton's childhood photographs.

Agreed. My point being is that on this post you seem to be stating her childhood isn’t important simply because she is rich. You seem to take the view that because rich people own homes they aren’t as badly affected by them being burnt down. As if they don’t have memories and years of growing up in them. I just think that’s cold and nasty

I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.. there’s no excusing such sick flippant remarks.

Some of the comments on this thread that highlight personal feeling of a lack of empathy for wealthy people is digusting.
Catastrophes and natural disasters are a great leveller. No one suffers less because they have a bigger bank balance.
Yes, the weathly might be able to get back on their feet easier than those that have lost everything. But telling someone that you have no sympathy for them while thier house is literally still smouldering is odious.

What if that person is James Woods?

I see noted Anti-semite Mel Gibson lost his home, too.

Ah well, I'm sure the good people on here (you know the ones better than me) will be wishing him well

You’re picking and choosing now. Your initial response was that everyone rich deserve less sympathy for losing their childhood homes then whatever you consider a “regular” person.

I’m sure there are some “regular” people who have lost their lives who were nasty people. Just as they are rich people who are decent. But your default feeling is to not care about the rich peoole.

You need to do better
