Finn Azaz - assist for Lath goal

You may recall a certain Mr. Downing of this parish? An oft repeated criticism of Stewy was that he was a "wuss" in 50:50s. Didn't hold that lad back too much. Football is a funny game, there is more than one way to play it tactically and physically. I think he has the potential to be the creative force we lost when Chuba left.
I see clearly the link, however, Stewy had the pace to get away from defenders which Finn has not. Don't get me wrong , I think the lad is a player, I am trying to be constructive.

At the level of those who can? Or at Championship level?
😆 Every player in the Championship is capable of playing that ball. I’m not knocking it or anything, I just think it was a fairly straight forward ball for him. Lath was on his way, their line was high. Put it in behind, job done.

The key word here is "capable", pretty much any human with 2 feet is capable of doing it. What's more relevant is likely to do it, most if not all footballers are capable of playing that pass, but most aren't likely to do it. Perfectly placed, perfectly timed, perfect weight.

I get what Roddam is saying. It wasn't really a difficult ball to execute. He had plenty of time and the margin for error on the pass was massive with their line so high.

Having the vision and awareness to execute was the more difficult part but any professional can play that ball.
Having watched the highlights I couldn't believe he scored after the absolute horlicks he made of controlling the ball.
Correct. His first touch is good but his second touch and in particular the third touch were poor. That third touch did not go where he intended at all. Made the finish more impressive though as he rifled it home with his weaker foot

He'll get close to 10 goals and 10 assists over a season I'd say quite comfortably if not more. Happy to have him and Gilbert for number 10. Mcgree can go if he's wanting to move.

Watch it again and notice the little look over his shoulder Manny does, the touches weren't miscontrols, they were touches deliberately taken to shield the ball from the approaching defenders.
Is miscontrols a word?

Eh?

We would sell more season tickets if it was cheaper to get in on a walk up? 🤪
The post said Attendances would go up, not SC's.
Have another look.

What encouraged me was LL finishing a 1 on 1 that had so much work to do to make it so.
It was an excellent ball from Azaz, no ifs buts or maybes.
It was an opportunity wonderfully taken by LL.
As was Gilbert's high quality finish a little later.

It was a very encouraging win.
I didn't see the whole match, but Carrick and the team deserve massive praise, whether Cardiff were cack or not.

I think there's some backspin on the ball because it sits up a bit rather than going forwards. Means he has to make an awkward adjustment which he does really cleverly.

17.5k season tickets isn’t great when you consider we had 22.5k.

They’re on sale for another 3 or 4 months yet!

I think this end of season form, plus the emergence of Latte, plus hopefully a few good signings in the summer… and ST sales will be around the same figure again

From the whole thing feeling a bit flat about 6 weeks ago, it seems really positive again to me now

Yes he took too long to get it under control and nearly fluffed it, but his last outside of the left foot touch was clever moving the ball a yard wider as the keeper was positioned fairly central by moving it left he opened up the near post finish and made the keepers positioning wrong, keeper didn’t have time to react to the angle change and once it left laths foot it was unsaveable due to the power and now slightly out of position keeper

If we get a 4.5m or higher offer I’d cash in. He’s a very good player, but lacks the pace to play out wide and has injury issues. If we can get a pacey left winger o philogene type, we’ll be stacked up top

I think Azaz is a decent footballer, it’s quite obvious he has a lot of ability, he will come good.
I said the same of Lath and before him McGree
Some of us just need to be a bit more patient

I think Azaz would be comfortable playing anywhere in that 3 behind the striker.

It gives us a bit more flexibility in recruitment, whether we go big on a number 10 or a left sided player
