Festival of Thrift - Hot Sauce

Didn’t fancy going tbh.. one of them things you get dragged round to when the footy isn’t on. It was alright as it happens.. summer to do.

Anyway I saw this hot sauce stand and I’ve watched a couple of them videos where the celebrities do a hot sauce challenge with wings.. going up and up in hotness and thought they were all a bunch of fannies.

Anyways.. I rock up to this stand and they’ve got loads to try.. so naturally I’ve said “dee us the hottest sauce yeahs got.. mind you that won’t be hot enough for me”

The nice chap pointed out their hottest number and in it went on a tortilla chip. VERY tasty and I nodded in approval.. only to start uncontrollably drooling and my nose running profusely.

“Hmm.. tasty that mate.. really nice fla..”COUGH COUGH (attempting to save face now) “no it’s alri COUGH COUGH” now he looks a bit disappointed in me and no doubt I’m putting off potential buyers.
“WHHEEEEEEZEE” and in a super quite high pitched gasping voice I said “It’s really nice.. I think I’ll get one of those”

So I walked around a bit and coughed a few more times.. by this point.. still very tasty.. but my mouth is burning off.

Super composed without any pained expression at all.. finally proving that I am actually a don when it comes to hot sauce.. I picked it up and picked another two at random to take home.

Got back home and had another go with the hot one.. I had a sniff and went hell for leather with it. It’s not actually that hot I convinced myself. Water and pop.. did nothing to cool the heat. Turns out.. I am a fanny.

The other two were delicious a sweet chilli sauce and the best of the three buffalo hot sauce with craft beer. Properly really nice.

I think it’s my thing now. Having boiled eggs just so I can get my next fix.

Has anyone else tried them? I think they are local lads…

Have I uncovered the next big thing here or am I last to the party? ‘Arcturus’ is the hot one.. the one with the black label at the end. ‘Niagara’ is the one I’m having with pretty much everything. ‘Where the wild roses go’ is the boyo for making pizza next level. NEED MORE
 
I like pretty hot stuff usually but my dad got me and my brothers a bunch of hot sauces, grinders and chilli pods from the chilli jam man in a hamper; they're all 9's and 10's on the heat scale and even adding a little to a meal pretty much completely ruins it as it's that strong. I normally love their hot sauces and love their bhut jolokia grinder but the reaper grinder and chilli pods are just silly levels

mind I imagine they're not as bad as the one chip challenge. someone did that as a secret santa at my mates work and HR ended up getting involved after the lad nearly went to hospital over it. apparently they've discontinued them now because someone died. it was basically one single really hot nacho chip, but something chemically hot was on it - some of them are meant to be up to 16 million scoville. a phaal is 100k-1.2m depending on the chillies used but i cant even contemplate something being almost 16X hotter than a worst case scenario

The mega hot one has reaper chills in it.. subsides after a bit and it doesn’t knack your guts. It’s so nice.. but red hot! Gonna get another couple.. just wondering if anyone else had tried these.
 
I'm a coward in that I won't try anything that might upset my gut to any extent having had some nasty experiences abroad and a couple of very intense Campylobactor episodes when I was unable to get off of the bog for days. Worst part about it was that it instilled a lengthy period of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and it took probably 9-10 months to get back to normal. So anything with a risk is not on any menu I would care to sample..

Secret tip: to stop the drooling, you need to wipe your mouth with the new kit (taps nose)

Those guys turn up at many local food festivals. Their sauces are very tasty. I'm too much of a wuss to go for the very hot ones but I do like to feel beads of sweat break out on my forehead. Sign of a good spice hit.

Yeah, I bought a couple at some other thing they were at recently. The Wild Rose and Niagra. Nice sauces.

These are great, they’ve done a ginger beer infused one with DMC (ginger beer brewery) which is lush.
