Feels like we're looking at a Devon Loch style capitulation

I have no faith we’ll go up via The Play offs. Hoping for the best but I’m pretty much resigned to the fact it’ll be another season in The Championship now.

I’m a glass full kind of person too. I just think that it’ll be a tall order for the side to pick themselves up mentally when we have no form or momentum.

Our lack of clinical edge has been a constant issue. We’ve gifted our rivals a shot at the top two. Ipswich will have to have a mare to mess it up from here.

The club have got to back Hellberg and get him in ammunition to score the goals next season. Embarrassing for some of our players who have been incapable of scoring goals in this team.

The time to back Hellberg was January

If we had just done ANY of the below we would easily be finishing Top Two:

Signed Bamford, which was easily possible.
Keeping Azaz (harder, fanny but we would be top 2 now)
Keeping Conway more central (although misses sitters)
Alfie Jones not getting injured
Buying a decent 1st team keeper
Getting a single Jan signing that would make an impact (Malanda signed in the Summer & Castledine has been injured and contributed 1 goal).

We really blew this chance, again and again and now luck is against us and belief is down.

Another agonising drift to failure at the end of the season where countless opportunities missed. We are not playing some sort of weird football hailing into the box with no clue.

Squad is getting one hell of a shake up in summer!

One crumb of comfort though and from a rare source.
A Mackem on one of the message boards said something like

"Chin up lads, we lost all momentum and a few games going into the playoffs, then went up the hard way. It isn't done just yet"

I hope this is the end of our blip because this, and I think this is what frustrates everyone most, is THE best chance to go up we've had in a very long time. Let's not blow it now FFS.

Hate to say it but I don't think we have the fighting spirt the mackems had

Spot on - they had shown they could grind out results.
We haven’t shown we can do that.
Personally think that’s what you need over 2 legs.

And, if we get to the final v Soton - we are not going to out attack them.

If we end up in the play offs I think we'll win it.

Weirdly I think it would be favourable for us to play the second leg away from home though.

If a team was brining a slight first leg advantage to the Riverside they'd just adopt a low block and we would be knackered.

Its a completely different mentality with the play offs , I think it takes far more mental strength which I am not sure we have

Amazing how Azaz would have got us promoted ? He was a useless lazy heartless player when he left.
