Feedback on new site thread

I am not the only moderator - but yes, I am at matches so have no understanding of what it is like match day online.
But I would not ask anyone else to force moderate - imagine how annoyed people would be if their posts were deleted almost as soon as they were posted. And it would be a never-ending task of cutting and pasting as well to manually move them.

Apparently the facility to merge threads isn't available. It would actually have been a useful tool .... especially on match days, or when there's some newsworthy event that everyone seems compelled to start their own thread about.

So self moderation and use of the search facility is the way forward then. It might take some time, but I'm sure we can all alter the way we post so as to benefit the whole of the board.

I would have thought it is something that is configurable. Perhaps you can ask whoever set up the board to see whether they can switch it on for admin to use?

Multiple threads on the same topic is narcissism, people like to have their 'own' thread. It makes sense to have the same topic in one place, but that's down to user etiquette. We can all learn

People will get in to the habit in time if there's a match day thread sticky.
Sticky threads are a thorny issue. Some people like them, some people think they take up took much screen real estate. Particularly on mobiles.

I am in favour of a semi permanent bugs, improvement and feedback sticky thread. Particularly as we are still in beta-site testing. Also, I am in favour of temporary match sticky threads. Made unsticky not too long after the match, That would be my lot.

Build a development test environment for adverts.

It actually looks like server issue - we turned off something called google auto ads but it looks to me like they are showing again.
They also started at same time on new Blackpool site avftt.co.uk
Will investigate.

Is it worth you setting up a temporary copy of this forum in it's current state? As a developers (alpha-site) test environment. Then use that as the place to test out your advertising options. It would be in a controlled environment at first. Away from this site that has real (beta-site) users.

Once you and the people sorting out the adverts have got what you think is a good compromise on adverts you then implement that scheme on here. For beta-site testing with real users on here. So you can get ideas about likely revenue generation. Plus feedback from users etc.

I think your users would be much happier with this approach."

surely you’d just PM the person and tell them why, like on and other forum. A simple one liner would do it.

I have a meeting coming up with one of the developers so we will look through the thread and price up different ideas and weigh them up against the price, I guess.

Being able to pull down (swipe down) on the forum to refresh it would be nice, as with other forums and websites.

what is a dark mode? as for stickies, could we have time allocations for them ie 1 1/2 days for match day up to 5 days for temp...
Sounds reasonably. However I feel that this one needs to stay as a sticky thread until the migration over here is completed. Then perhaps a little longer. So people can give feedback. Plus Rob can inform people of what is going on.

Maybe the thread title should be changed in some way. Perhaps to reflect that it covers Board Feedback, Suggested Improvements, Bugs & Bug fixs plus Status Reports.

Or something like that. To encourage people not to start a lot of other separate threads on these various subjects.

i wasnt meaning this one... just temp subjects, i agree this is a longer term one...

still, whats dark mode, can we buy guns in that one?
