Feedback on new site thread

Not too sure you want knives like these being advertised on here. Popped up this evening and before any one asks, no I haven’t been Googling knives.

Any reason why some threads take a while to load and why there's sometimes an error message when trying to reply? I've tried a different browser, but the issue still seems to be present.

I approve of avatars. And the board seems to refresh itself better now.

Has fansonline gone for good? It wasn't just Boro - there was Corridor of Uncertainty for example.
Hi capybara - Corridor of Uncertainty is back at last - you will have to register again

@rob_fmttm how about a sticky topic with links in it to what you want to be a key topic? I know you love a sticky but 6 is a bit much, you generally shouldn’t have more than 1-2 at any point in time.

this is feedback on the new site but it launched in January 2020 so fairly embedded now

player sponsorship no posts in 2 months
gold season card holders is from august 2020 “Maybe I should make this a sticky thread until everyone has had an opportunity to read it.” Surely by now...

Single post with rules in it and links to threads you want to highlight would work so much better - on mobile you have to scroll down 3 pages to get to the posts

Couldn't agree more

Agree that the number of sticky posts is a bit of an annoyance when you are on a mobile. Yes, this is a First World Problem, but still, it’s an annoyance all the same.

How is that?
There will be some Player Sponsorship news to impart - I have just been waiting to here from buffaloboro.

but there have been no posts in that thread for just shy of 2 months Rob so it clearly doesn’t need to be a sticky

this is exactly the sort of thing subforuns would help with to separate content but as you don’t want to use those, just have one sticky thread called “Rules and Important Threads” and then put a link to each thread you want in that opening post then the other 95% of the forum that have no interest in it dont have to scroll past it 15+ times a day as they read the forum

it’s such a basic QoL change to improve the forum

Again I agree - 1 thread pinned to the top with links to as many other threads as you want in it makes the board so much tidier and easier to use.

I have just made those announcements on sponsor thread - total coincidence that I picked up the signed framed shirt today.

Which could be its own post and not really need a sticky for 100% of the forum to scroll past multiple times a day before they get to the new content.

This is basic user design principles - it’s key to access important information easily but what is important for a small niche group isn’t important for the entire username and sticky’s should’ve very time limited if used for individual threads, not set & forget.

by using a single master sticky you can have people post replies to that thread to get a post added to the list so you can have more in it than now if you want

the other option would be some kind of news ticker add on that cycles through messages so that it doesn’t take up as much space

I'm getting a window opening at the bottom of the screen similar to some of the 'cookie' option windows you get on other sites, but this one has nothing in it. In fact it's transparent. You can close it in the usual way but it comes up every time I refresh so it's a bit annoying.

Yup same for me, it prevents you clicking on the "Main Forum" link to return to the forum unless you close the window.

MS Edge on Windows 10 PC

I don't think it's related to the platform as it doesn't appear on Corridor of Uncertainty. I'm using Chrome on Windows 10.
