There is some crossover between Sci-Fi & Horror as well as Fantasy

Lord of the Rings (all of them)
Forbidden Planet
Matrix I
Signs
2001 A Space Odyssey
Alien
Star Trek Wrath of Khan
Dark City
Galaxy Quest
Tremors
Pan's Labyrinth
Blade Runner
Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
Terminator 1
Terminator 2
The Thing
Ex Machina
Back to the Future (all)
The Day The Earth Stood Still
Dune 1 & 2 (new films)
Guardians of the Galaxy I
Arrival
Pitch Black
Event Horizon

I'll stop there - I could list 100 and still have some I've missed

One I will add, the Karl Urban version of Judge Dredd in the film Dredd

The Thing is superb

I feel obliged to point out that Star Wars isn't actually sci-fi. It's just cowboys in space.

Colt-45 -> Lasers
Prairie -> Space
Horses -> Space ships
Heroine in distress -> Princess Leia
Good guy dresses in white
Bad guy dresses in black
Shoot-out at OK Corral -> Death Star battle

Yes, they throw in some supernatural gobbledegook, but that does doesn't change the actual theme.

2001, Stalker = sci-fi
Galaxy Quest = sci-fi sublime comedy. By Grabthar's Hammer!

Galaxy Quest was only on TV the other night and I watched the whole film. It's worth it just for Sigourney Weaver.

And yeah, the new Dune films are great. Don't completely buy Chamolet as Paul Atriedes/Muad' Dib but the cinematography is immense.
