FAO Yusuf - you’ve helped influence the biggest change in a Boro message board

Apart from the thick Neanderthal’s and out and out racists out there I do also wonder if there is someone with an axe to grind who instigates it? I said when Yusuf was being targeted when he was doing his great vlogs after matches......who has their nose’s put out of joint by you doing it?

Blimey I’ve only just caught this disgraceful action by those Neanderthals, I’m not even going to refer to them as Boro fans . Yusuf , I’ve never met you but in the event I do I’m going to give you a vigorous shake of the hand as I admire and cherish you greatly . If it’s in a pub I’ll even buy you a pint ( or several ) 🤝.

I’d have thought the lad must be sick of it all and just want to move on, he’s accepted an apology .
lessons have been learnt and I’m certain for the better.
Perhaps it’s better now to just leave it in the past and everyone moves on to better times ?
constant reminders won’t be good for state of mind
would be nice for yusuf to have the last word and then thread locked .

just my opinion

It was Nov '13 for me. I dropped from the board for a while after some idiot was repeatedly abusive, I appealed to them to give me a break as FMTTM was my escapism from watching my wife's battle with cancer. The response was 'I feel sorry for your wife but you deserve to have to deal with watching her'. Sadly the world is largely nice people, with the odd moronic scumbag and we are no different.

Of course whoever he/she was wouldn't have dared speak like that to my face, just as these morons wouldn't speak to Yusuf the way they have, sadly the perceived anonymity of the internet brings out the worst in the worst of people.
Jesus, watching my wife battle cancer is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and it’s still on going and it‘s devastating, especially during lockdown. Reading this board and others offers the only escape available at the moment as I take a few minutes off from caring for her.
Sadly she was readmitted to hospital last night and I’m so worried. should I be pacing around the house or is it ok to seek a bit of normality on a message board?

Sorry you're going through this, can't imagine how difficult it must be. Hope this place does provide some normality and some solace.

Sorry to hear you that your wife is having this battle, and you are equally in a that battle too, that escapism is important. Best of luck to your wife and hopefully she will be back home soon. It's match day and although some people might not understand, taking your mind out of life's troubles for a couple of hours is enough to keep you sane, so take that couple of hours today for some self care.

@El_Owen It's perfectly normal to find some succour on fmttm at times like that mate. Been there.

WS - When you say axe to grind - It could be someone who feels there are in competition with him and use racial comments to upset and unsettle? Just a thought.

El_Owen, I found one of the biggest hurdles to overcome was guilt? Why her? Why now? How do I continue? The bottom line is no matter how difficult it is to have to try and think of other things. Small things like posting on here.I will tell you sharing my experience on here, the love and compassion helped me move away from some dark thoughts. To me it was therapy. Not saying it works for everyone, I am sure your wife would like to see you having something in life that can be escapism for you- even for a short while. Take care, mate

I have only just seen the thread and wanted to put my own words to wish Yusuf all the best as a fellow remote Boro fan.

It is heartening to see the overwhelming support from fellow posters on this board, we all stand together against any form of racism or discrimination.
I have suffered my own problems with mental health over the last few years and have found the support, camaraderie and humour on this board a massive help. A big thank you to everyone who is supportive of each other and to Rob who provides such a great forum to belong too.

How about this ? Yusef when the new season starts which hopefully will allow an ordinary attendance , how about you attending and visiting Doctor Browns pub before and after the game ( or place by your choice ) and we can embrace you accordingly ?
If you need digs I’ve got loads of space at my house ( I live near Yarm ) and you’re more than welcome . Ok we’ll fix you a parmo as well 😃

The support is "mad" as we would describe it here in my part of London where I live. I guess the equivalient in Teesside terms is "mint"? (Which if you said here in London is a Polo sweet)
