I've decided to get myself a tag for the Toll roads for my drive down to the South West.
Just for convenience really - drive straight through at 30mph. Also you can transfer from car to car.
If you are interested (there may be other options this is just what my mate recommended to me)

I have had one the last few years and they are quality. It is always nice to drive up with English plates and get tooted at by the locals for being in the wrong lane. A little beep later from your tag and off you go. ;)

They knock a lot time off your journey if you are driving a distance and eases the hassle of looking for the right change, etc. You pay a small admin fee and the money comes out the following month. Driving from Calais to Mimizan usually costs me around 90€.

I would recommend them to anyone going to France.

Thanks anyway.

Where about in the South West are you going?

We are between Carcassonne and Toulouse - - nearest main town is Revel.
Getting a bit giddy now - Ferry next Monday night.

That’s a brilliant tip. Sounds great if you use them more than one trip. 21 euros for the convenience on just one trip. Personally I don’t find stopping that much of a pain. Hope you have a great time. Cycled through Revel a few years ago when we did a trip between Toulouse and Barcelona via Carcassonne and up the Porte D’Envilera to Pas De La Casa. Great memories.

Sounds a nice ride that
If you rack your brains you may have experienced the village of books (montolieu); Saissac (with its wonderful vista on to the old castle). Tiny village of Les cammazes (where I will be) and the lake at St Ferreol.

Number of routes in/out of Revel - long ride down from Cammazes
Or, if you were heading to Carcassonne from their - lovely ride up
