Remember watching a Boro friendly there just after reforming in 86. Pallister scored is about my only memory, apart from the man I always called Mr Synners, Alec, for his money raising activities at ICI, runnning around making sure everybody had paid.

Thanks had some good nights at central avenue hard to believe it’s gone.

used to Love the pre season games as well.

(also one of the few places Ricardinho played for us).

I saw on twitter last week that the management team have left and apparently every single player in the squad is either up for sale (contracted players) or will not be registered for next season.
Pollock the pillock still involved heavily though.

Used to have the best playing surface in the northern league too. Only thing I didn't like about the ground was the running track.

How sad are those photos :(
Change mate, I videoed & took photos of Ayresome Park being demolished, is it for progression, don't know
If we'd have known the hospital was going to be demolished would we have extended AP, for me that would have been ideal scenario
Similar with Synners, not sure why it needed to be sold but a lot of history there & people's memories

From memory, we needed the money from the sale of the AP land, so there would have been no chance of extending there.

Gibbo wanted to move away, it would have cost more to extend AP tan build the Riverside, with parking restrictions, the houses, hospital etc, it just wasn't practical

Once went to a Boro reserve game there, was sat near Alistair Brownlee, went to the bar at half time and Terry Venables and Bryan Robson were sitting there chewing the fat and supping a pint. Truly a strange experience at Synners. First grown up game of footy I ever saw was there, I think I must have been about 6. Beat Evenwood Town 5-0.
