The group captain - whose subsequent resignation was revealed by Sky News - told her boss in the email earlier this month that she was not willing to allocate slots on RAF training courses based purely on a specific gender or ethnicity, according to a copy of the message, seen by Sky News.

Yes it is if they are the best candidate for the job. It's called discrimination.

It is, but this was a training course so legally it may be allowed, as long as it wasn't at the expense of others.

A bit of a grey area and I'm sure whoever made the decision will argue that this was the case.

But the reality is that decisions like this are actually hugely counterproductive; it's divisive and plays into the myth of minority groups only getting jobs, promotions etc, because of that characteristic.
