He had a year left on his contract, nobody has come in for him Chelsea have cut their loses and done what is right for club and player. Links with Rangers, Celtic & Southampton appear to be short lived. Most clubs have done their business and not had Ross Barkley in their plans.

His injury record is a concern with two months out for Villa last season.. clearly they haven’t been back in for him.

Were going to go through the same process, CW says this, that & the otber, the fans get high expectations & then right at the death, erm sorry, we just couldnt get it over the line

Lets just concentrate on the biggy tomorrow night, no ones coming in till January
 
Do the players have to be without contract on deadline day, or can someone have their contract terminated and then transfer as a free agent.

If we could get someone to terminate, then we could be free to bring them in?

Phil Jones has just lost his space in the Man Utd dressing room, sure he’s not the prettiest and was never good enough for Man U or England but would be for us, and he could plug a few different gaps, if necessary. There will be many other similar examples, who may not need to be free agents, who likely won’t get another premiership contract.

They have to have been out of contract before the window closed to be eligible to register for another club.

It’s not gonna happen is it. We’d be lucky to get Fabian Delph over the line and if Jonny Howson can share his elixir of youth secrets then Danny Drinkwater will be a good edition too. I remember being unimpressed hearing of Dean Whitehead only to be shown the error of my ways. He was superb!!

Both with a professional attitude and winning mentality could prove invaluable as to bringing y on our younger players. Bamba, Peltier and Taylor were great for us last season.

As for the striker.. I can’t see any further than Andy Carroll not to start every game but + Giles crossing = goals. A point snatcher and a game killer. Things might not be that bad after all!

We need experienced bodies in for the next 15 games or so. He missed 20 games last season in the prem, 14 games the season before that. Game management in a less intense league should see us with a chance at least. Rangers are sniffing around which might put an end to our rumoured interest.

Still.. no strikers or attacking midfielders rumoured. Pretty slim pickings in the free agent market. All players will come with challenges one way or another.

Good shout, I think he's a really good player....he must be if he's played for Pep
If we could keep him fit would be great signing 👍
 
In a choice between Drinkwater and Delph I'd go with Delph.

But I would rather the players we have now stepped up and we also looked at the youth teams instead of relying on a **** head and/or a fella made of glass to save our season.
 
Delph certainly has a lot of qualities but as it’s been mentioned he’s basically only good for 5 games in 30. I’d think he’d make a great coach mind you.
