FA Cup TV selections

Don't mind those choices for once, they all seem like the right ones.

Though I think it's lucky for them that that most of the top clubs drew a lower league one and the Championship clubs almost all drew each other.

The only one that looks like a game that might even be interesting (eg chance of upset) is Tamworth. ITV always try to get Liverpool ad Man Utd for the higher charge they can put on adverts as they are probably the most watched 2 teams.

As for Vill v West Ham, I dont see the point if they are trying to promote the FA Cup as a competition that can cause upsets -ther is no chance they will show this game in their montages of great cup moments.

Don't the montages come from old Match of the Day games that weren't shown live?

I agree about Villa v West Ham, run of the mill game, like Boro v Blackburn.

That Millwall game could well turn out to be v West Ham fans
Maybe the reason its in telly

Good hands kidda

You have to remember that a lot of people don't have sky and the fa cup is the only way to watch live football on TV. If you show four games of a little club Vs a big club you often get a tedious one sided game.
Villa v west ham and Utd v Liverpool is the only premier league football a lot of people will see. They are the two games I would be most interested in watching.

Thing is, most games that look as though they should on paper be horribly one-sided end up being horribly one-sided. And boring to boot. There might be an upset in the third round but the chances of the TV guys hitting on that one, and it being a classic that stands the test of time, are as near to zero as to make no difference. And even speaking as someone who enjoys in principle the romance of the cup, I’m not going out my way to watch a load on the off chance that one might be decent. They have to show at least some games involving decent football teams otherwise they won’t get an audience.

Imagine Tamworth holding Spurs to a draw and how p***ed off they’d be because replays have been scrapped due to the so-called big clubs don’t like playing away midweek unless it’s champions league games.

Do you think those kick-off times are to appease foreign TV markets? I mean, why does Mansfield v Wigan kick off at 6pm on a Saturday FFS. It’s absolutely stupid. And who would be watching Mansfield v Wigan in Kuala Lumpur or Belo Horizonte anyway. Come on.
