FA Cup replays scrapped.

2 snippets I have picked up from reading about this in various sources:
- League Cup, Championship and below only.
- Smaller teams choose where they play when they have been drawn, ie say Aldershot get Man Utd at home, they can then decide if they want to play at Old Trafford for more gate receipts etc.

That would be a decent compromise imo.

Don’t think I would go for that second one. Given that home advantage is probably the single biggest factor in determining who is likely to be favourite in a football match, giving it up for money is tantamount to throwing the game for a bribe. In which case, why not cut out the token exercise of the football match and just let them take the bribe to not turn up?

Do you know what really devalues any sporting competition? Treating it as a pure exercise to make money ahead of trying your best in it.

Exclude all teams playing Europe from the League Cup. That will the ease the fixture congestion for the big teams and will give more teams something to play for
There is no fixture congestion, the top flight was cut back for that reason.

There are rarely any postponed matches in the top flight and squads are bigger than ever.

I can see both sides.

However, using my example, plenty of lower league teams see cup runs as a good way of securing another season financially, especially in these bloated times where prices for everything has shot up.

But I did also say to give them the choice, they can either have home advantage if they want. Or go for the gate receipts.

But like I said, it’s a compromise that I have seen elsewhere that could possibly work.

I'd sooner they just scrap the League Cup than remove the Premier League teams from it.

What's the point in it in that case?

Little better than the EFL Trophy, may as well just reduce fixture congestion for everyone by removing it if you're going down that route.

The more that domestic competitions are scrapped the more the European qualifiers can fit in mid season matches in the middle east and Asia, win/win, what's not to like.

And they don't have to go to s***y clubs like Middlesbrough any longer
