FA Cup final day tomorrow and not a mention on here- how far has the competition fallen

Money.
The Icing on the cake at T-time?!
Money.
Mr Murdoch`s arz is clearly in the driving seat.

Well it used to be the pinnacle match at the end of a season now it`s 3/4 games before the end.

Not a 3pm KO either

Just seems like another game now and no razzmatazz of history surrounding the build up.......

Things will change, but the denigration of the cup akin to having a pizza instead of a Sunday dinner is discgraceful. Its the same attitude which elevates clubs above competition - profit above the national game.

The F.A. Cup relegation began in ernest with Man Utd`s pull out from the competition in 1999 to take part in some "world Club championship" outfit.

Just like their current big-headed owners who tried to set themselves up in the $ Super Dollars League $ - Utd have become a destructive toxic force in the game. Not very fond of them, but their fans have a very valid case and I dont imagine Boro fans being too chuffed being treated like so much cattle either.

That said - for the fans of Lesta, it will be another success from the Premiership title journey. Like us, they have never won the F.A Cup - but like any real footi fans it is the top of English Football achievement. Every fan wants it on the Club CV. So, much as it pains - I hope for the 72 who take the Cup serious and those other clubs in the Bankership League [not the "Top 6"] - Foxes win today (y)

Used to be the biggest drinking day of the year for me. In the pub from 11 till 3 back to a mates to watch match cos the pub closed at 3 ( hard to believe now)
then back to the pub after the match. Great times, then I got married we had kids and then bl00dy SKY tv came along and ruined our beautiful game. Wont even be watching it today.

I have more interest this year than last year, simply because Leicester are there and have a chance. Really can't be bothered when it is two of the super league six playing each other. Mind you last time a non big club was it in didn't Watford lose by six?

My son who is 19 takes very little notice of the FA Cup, think the only cup memory he might have is when we beat City. Most of my football memories and non Boro memories growing up were FA Cup related.

As someone else said things change......

I didn’t even know it was on until I saw this thread. I used to love fa cup final day! Like you say it’s now just a bit uninspiring.

Just checked out the BBC and to be fair to them they are trying to make it an FA Cup day, programmes start @ 1.45 so a little 👍 to them

A few people have already mentioned why the Cup Final has lost it's allure. Too many games on TV, the Final not being the last domestic game, not a 3pm kick off. I'd also add that generally the bigger clubs have tended to dominate for years. In the last 30 years there's only Portsmouth and Wigan who have won outside the bigger clubs. I might have forgotten someone mind.

Watching Leicester fans being interviewed before the Cup Final, a real blast from the past.....genuinely excited to be there, obviously previous COVID-19 restrictions play a part in that, but genuinely looking forward to this now

When I was a kid the streets would be deserted during the Final. The Leeds-Chelsea 1970 replay drew a TV audience of 28 million! It was THE big game for the country as a whole. Now, in a world of hedonic satiation, super this and massive, massive that, it's just another game. We need to up the stakes to restore the relevance of the competition. Do the EFA have the power to change the Champions League 4th place qualifier?
