F1, Round 12, Silverstone.

The rain will probably put the mockers on Verstappren as the reason he was so fast yesterday (apart frim the fact he is a very good driver) was down to Red Bull stripping a lot of the downforce off the car and in wet conditions that is going to go against him.

What an incredible lap from Max, in a car his talented team mate couldn't get out of Q1 with.

Jenson suggested recently that Max is already the best of all time.

Difficult to argue with that. Certainly the best since Senna (not Bruno).
Jenson still a little salty after all these years, bless him.

Just to counter the above posts:

1. Max is half a second a lap faster than his last half dozen team mates. While, on the other hand Lewis has been outpointed by his team mate 2 out of the last 3 seasons and this season seems like it could be 3 out of the 4.

2. Number of Championships won is only one factor in F1. Vettel has won twice as many as Alonso but no one who watchers the sport would remotely suggest that peak Vettel was anywhere near as good as peak Alonso.

IMO Max is at least two tenths faster than Lewis, probably more.
Max's team mates are nowhere on a level near any of Lewis'. They are dross.

The number of world champions lewis has beat, plus in the same car is for all to see.

Great race. Very exciting and a Brit winner. Loved seeing Hulk get a podium.
Oscar deserved the penalty for me. Dropped a 100mph of his speed in one move. He knew what he was doing to try and take all the heat out of Verstappens tyres.
Excellent afternoon laid on the settee.

Chuffed for Lando, but that was harsh on Oscar.

What a result for Hulkenberg too.

Max in 5th, no other driver could do that.
As much as I hate Max (more his toxic fans but hey ho) I would agree with his 5th place. In a car that had a tea tray for a rear wing, in 95% wet conditions, No one else on the gird could have got that car to fifth. Especially after the spin. Some might say not many other drivers would have been so wound up by Piastri brake check that they would have spun in anger in the first place being the only caveat I guess.

Anyway it doesn't matter, what matters was third place. I'm a huge Hamilton fan and really wanted him to do well at home. So it was very odd to be spending 20 minutes praying he couldn't catch a Sauber! But so happy for Nico, he deserves it. He's arguably been outdriving the cars he's had for the last few years (K mag isn't slow and he couldn't get anywhere near him in the Haas). So happy he has a podium. As Brundle said at one point today, "you don't win Le Mans by a fluke" So Nico is a serious driver and deserves that.
