Exactly one year - how have Labour done?

So it’s now exactly a year since the polls closed - and a well spread just over 33 per cent of the votes gave Labour a whopping majority

Have they done really well , well , ok , not so well or really badly in that year?

Dealt with some important events well e.g. responding to last year's riots.

Put through some legislation I agree with e.g. farmer's inheritance taxes, and dealt with the backlash well

Overall the vibes are off, and the current welfare reform fiasco is probably a low for Starmer, although pleased with how many in the party have reacted.

To me they have looked absolutely naïve. From getting caught up in the freeby clothes debacle, at the beginning through to the u turns recently.
There is a craft and an art in giving with one hand and taking with another. There is also a way to pull some of your levers when tightening fiscal policy, but this government lay all the cards on the table with nowhere else to go.
I had hopes that they would deliver change as promised and have been happy to give them time, but they really need to start delivering. A lot of the economy stimulation is long term plans which will land after the next election. What they need to show is a few short term changes along with mid and long term.
Starmer appears to have done quite well on the world stage, but we need to see real change at home for him to be taken seriously.

This came on WhatsApp. Make of it what you will. Not really had time to look at it yet but the BBC have as they are currently ripping into Labour on tonights news.

Change has begun. As we mark our first year in office, this Labour Government has started rebuilding security for working people after 14 years of Tory decline.
The Prime Minister is leading this mission to renew our country in three phases - just as he did in our successful journey back to power from Opposition.

It's clearly a work in progress, no one ever said it was going to be easy, the government have upset the far right, the right, the left and the far left, which to me just proves that so much had to be done to fix the mess we were in.
1 year in and most of the predictions, from many on here 15 months ago that this governments would need 2 terms seem to be 100% right.

14 years of utterly catastrophic dismantling of our social fabric, including infrastructure, the NHS, Brexit, wage stagnation, austerity, mental health care and provision, Schools deprived of funds and basically starting to fall to pieces due to construction budgets being slashed, massive cuts to funding for police forces, community-support services axed.

One year is simply not enough to make a real dent in the damage done. Yes they have made mistakes and thankfully some have been reversed dues to those with a conscience. Hopefully the party can make better and more informed decisions in future.

If anyone things Farage and his fascist supporters would do better they need a wake up call.

Must be doing well and making progress, the far right fruit cakes on here are showing their hatred. UTLP UTB.
‘The far right fruit cakes’ as you put it are still voters and human beings with families.. disillusioned, disenfranchised subjected to disinformation and need to be reached out to. What is good for the people of this country is good for the people of this country. Communication and understanding is severely lacking. Questions need to be asked why these tin pot fascist grifters are getting so much traction.. why do they receive such a disproportionate level of media coverage.

Troll politics seems to be reigning supreme.. changes need to be made from the top. Politics needs cleaning up, trust needs to be built and that can only be done through transparency and accountability.

Why have we got so many politicians with their fingers in so many pies? Public servants should not be available for hire, public service should not be an investment opportunity. They are not celebrities they don’t need sponsorships or endorsements to boost their income.

They've been terrible. The first year is the one you can make real changes.
A few wins aside they've been Tory light and now the cabinet don't even have control of more than half the party. Fin shambles

A labour party hitting the poor and barely taxing the rich isn't a Labour party
