Ex Boro players you forgot, where they are now.

Hines was one of the many defenders that came through the academy. I thought he was OK.

Ok - how about József Varga

Single season here in 2013-14. I think he was a centre mid but he played at right back. I thought he was pretty good at the time and remember thinking that we should buy him. We had a EUR 650k option according to the internet, but Karanka did not take it up. He went back to Hungary and seemingly stayed there.
Tony Mowbray not playing him at right back cost him his job imo

Cattermole slammed into Digard’s thigh I think. It was an awful tackle and looked pre-meditated to me. I may have caused a mass brawl, I can’t remember, but it was dreadful. Think he only got booked as well.
It looked pre meditated. I don’t think Cattermole wanted to leave boro so he left his mark on him (tore his quad I think). Pretty much finished Digard with us.

“Digard was involved in a challenge by Lee Cattermole and was stretchered off midway through the first half suffering an injury to his medial ligaments in his right knee as well as a rupture to the quadriceps muscle in his left leg.” - we were relegated that season, screaming out for a genuine midfielder. Turned our noses up at Nemenja Matic for £800k in favour of a £2m no show Ben Watson.

Malaury Martin was an odd one.. another French midfielder. Refused to sign a contract extension with us.. went on trial at Barnsley, then ended up playing for a Swiss outfit like 8 months later. Spent a few seasons in the SPL with Hearts and Dunfermline. Odd

Anthony Ormerod, really thought he would go all the way. Think the Gazette ran a feature on him a few years ago and he had become a PE teacher?

Alan Moore is a scout at Wigan. See him occasionally at friendlies and youth games in the north west.

Luke Williams is currently playing for an Icelandic club.

I remember that Cattermole tackle on Digard during a very dull 0-0 draw with Wigan at the Riverside - it was the only memorable thing about that game.

How about Australian striker Scott McDonald. He had one of the worst first touches I’ve ever seen on a Boro player but still managed to contribute a goal roughly every three games. I thought he’d be brilliant because he scored in the Champions League against AC Milan. He is now the manager of Australian side Gold Coast Knights.
He was absolutely awful as a footballer, just managed to scuff a few in. Apparently an absolute ar%^ around the club as well.

Some fans felt it was a mistake to let him go, but then he got about 2 goals at millwall before returning to Sunday league level Scottish footy.

Mikael Soisalo! Finnish player who looked like he had a massive future after a couple of games, now plays for FC Riga in Latvia!

I can't say we'd forgotten about him, as the "worst 11" thread reminded me of him, but when last sighted, Phil Whelan was a headmaster.

While as a kid I'd have loved to have had an ex-pro footballer as headmaster, I wonder if any of the kids in the photo know just how good he wasn't?

Anyone know what happened to Cameron Park? I always thought he looked like he had it all in front of him. Seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.

I don't think he's a pro anymore, he fell down the leagues - he was released by Whitby in 2016

Mate of mine said he went on loads of nights out with him. Said he just wanted a normal life and he wasn't interested in the life of being a footballer. Lovely lad, just didn't fancy it.
Thirsty Thursdays in Redcar is definitely worth it haha!
