European travel plans

we normally go on 1 major holiday, EBC trek, etc and 1 smaller 7 day holiday (europe/morocco/etc). Morocco was binned in April and we have already said we wouldn't feel comfortable going away at all this year. So own arden and hopefully some wild camping later on.

There is zero social distancing and it is going to get worse. I can feel it in my aging bones.. but why now would you want to go anywhere? to enjoy what exactly?

What are the distancing measures in place in Spain matey? Have the hospitality industry over there spoken about the winter period yet?

2 metres is still in place as a recommendation mate - round here in my area people seem to be using their own judgement and leaving what they see a appropriate spaces between groups, and it's all seems very civil. Haven't been down to the City Centre since shops reopened to see what that's like though.

Nothing about winter yet that I've seen - the main priority at the moment is planning for the beaches reopening on Monday, and how social distancing is going to be managed there. Everyone is desperate to get something out of the summer season first - tourism being a massive part of the economy here.

Yeah of course.
I've always been interested as to how the tourism industry operates over the winter period in places like Spain, Italy etc. Obviously in England we gear our restaurants and bars for poor weather i.e rain and when the sun comes out it's an added bonus as it tends to drive more trade, well especially where I work anyways. Will be interesting to see how these places that focus a lot on outdoor areas survive the 2 metre rule when weather forces them to trade from indoors.

Generally in winter things just slow down a bit, but the "season" here is probably from April through to October / November - then you have Xmas, New Year, Three Kings, Carnival, etc and I suppose we generally have the weather where you can sit outside most of the year.

Malaga City has a lot of non-tourist related stuff as well - big technology park, the University and Medical School, Government offices etc. and in many ways the off season is almost as busy as when the tourists are here .... and as a resident, a different atmosphere and more enjoyable ;)

Up the coast however, you'll find a lot of hotels, restaurants and bars close from November through to February, and the owners and staff have their holidays, some opening up for Xmas and New Year. Others will open only a couple of nights a week, alternating with other restaurants so somewhere is always open in an area.

That's good information to share. Cheers.

It's got a massive amount to do with what you said. The virus is still rife here. You can't just go around opening massive disease vectors because you fancy a pint
Not that you suggested it and I agree with what you are saying, but why are we opening schools, etc?

We are coming out of this lockdown to early and once again it is about money. The government are scared that other European countries steal a march on them.

It's a distraction. Plain and simple. And it's going to kill people
