Euro knock out stages - England

If Engerlund win the group, we play the runners up of the Portugal / Germany / France - to be played in Glasgow

if we are second we play the runners up of the Spain/Sweden/Slovakia/Poland group
- to be played in Copenhagen

finish second in the group like we did in the World Cup looks the way forward

I didn't realise until last night that you can qualify finishing 3rd. Only 8 teams get knocked out in the group stages.

Talksport were saying you could go through with 3 points and definitely with 4. It's harder not to go through 😂

I think its a giver finished 2nd would be 'better'. That said win the group and beat France in the last 16 and its the main threat gone. You have to 9lay the best team at some point and it doesn't have to be in the final.

I genuinely don't think we should fear anyone. The biggest issue I have is how Gareth sets them up. We have all this young talent but how is it going to be deployed? I'm fully expecting 3 CBs and Philips / Rice in CM😕

Why did you leave Hungary out of it in your post?

Also if England finish top and we’ll be playing at Wembley not Hampden Park Glasgow. Just saying.

Lets just beat everyone in front of us, I'm sure Gareth and the team will want to win the group convincingly. I remember Euro 2016 when we finished second in the group, ended up playing Iceland and look how that ended up.

Who are Engerlund?

I dont see why we cant beat the runners up of the group of death. Presuming France win the group, im not scared of a Portugal or Germany match. Finish top of your group, hopefully with 9 points, that should motivate you and give the team confidence to beat anyone

We can beat anyone on our day.

Also, international football is funny. In 2018. Russia beat Spain, Germany went out of the group stage. In 2018 Wales got to the semis.

No use worrying about other teams until we actually have to play them.

Portugal / Germany / France - it's quite possible that one of those 3 could fail to make the second round. Then we will have to beat one to reach the final. France are by far the strongest of those 3 teams.

I would rather play Germany out of the three I think, the benefits of beating them at a 'home' tournament after what happened in 96 would see us through to the final... name on the trophy and all that

Okay maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself 😅

Why?
We are at Wembley and beat all 3 of the teams in our group last time we played them there
Opening games are quite nervy, Croatia are a decent side could see that ending in a draw. Scotland will be up for the game too and could see that being a draw too. Then a win against the Czechs.
Croatia beat Scotland and Czech Republic and they’d win the group.

Not saying that’s what will happen just I wouldn’t be too surprised if it did. I think previous group stage experiences with England could be clouding my judgement as they never seem straightforward.

It's more than likely all 3 will progress.

If you win 1 group match, then it pretty much means you qualify for the KOs.

I seem to think Portugal didn't win a group game in the last tournament, or have I dreamt that???

Finished 3rd in their group, with 3 draws, and only beat Wales in normal time in the whole tournament.

They were rubbish, but when it's meant to be it's meant to be.
