Euro knock out stages - England

I think we'll beat Croatia comfortably. I see an aging squad. Couple of good player for sure, but they should be much more worried about us. I can't see Kane having too many nightmare's about being marked by Lovren. 2-0.
father time has to catch up on little Modric soon doesn't it? 35 now, and Perisic is 32 too.

Badelj and Vida are 32, and Lovren is 31. That's half their first choice outfield players in their 30s. Shame we are playing them first, because I think they will wilt by the 3rd match.

They apparently keep the ball well but don't have a proper cutting edge. Classic is meant to be v good though.

Their biggest weakness is from set pieces and players running at their slow backline. Which suits us.

(All stolen from various podcasts I've heard)

They are eminently beatable, but it's up to England to do it!

Yes, I agree. Could a young Scottish side dump them out? Could be on the cards.

One of the criticisms I've heard in recent days about Southgate's england is "just how negative it all is". Thought I'd do a little research on that, because I didn't see it that way at all. Anyway, this very young and inexperienced side, are attack minded, and out coach is arguably our most attacking coach ever.

- Southgate's England scored 12 goals at the last world cup, that is the most goals any England side has every scored at a world cup finals. More even than in '66
- Qualifying for this Euros, the most goals we have ever scored in any qualifying campaign ever. 37 goals in 8 games, we have had 19 qualifying Euro/WC competitions with at least 8 games and 34 is the second best under Capello.

I think once this is going to be an exciting competition for us

I said this on another thread a couple of weeks ago. It's a strange one with Croatia as in the last 12 years they've beaten England a few times and two of those wins prevented England qualifying for EURO 2008. England have also beaten them and given them a couple of batterings too (1 - 4 in Zagreb and 5 - 1 at Wembley). England also won comfortably the last time they played in European Championship. Portugal 2004; England 4 - 2 Croatia.

All those are different players in different times of course, but just shows the history between the two in competitive matches.

weak teams:
A - Turkey
B - Finland
C - North Macedonia
D - Scotland
E - Slovakia
F - Hungary
I should have put money on those 6 being eliminated. I also said there was a danger we might lose one of the big Group F teams....we nearly lost 2 of them.

We'll beat the Germans 3-1

Don't you ever get fed up of been so correct all the time
nope, but I do get fed of no nothing gobshites, reveling in their ignorance, cheers.

To be fair, I'm wrong sometimes, but I don't fear 'been' wrong, it's a learning opportunity for anyone that wants to learn something.
