Having a 5 nation host creates interesting scenario for qualifications.
Yep that was wrong of me - changed*UK and Ireland.
Yes it was a fantastic tournament - only the crowds disappointed at the provincial venues and trust that will not be the case in 2028.I loved Euro 1996 and attitudes towards how we viewed football changed around that time. I was lucky enough to go the three group games, a quarte-final, semi-final and the final.
The tournament apart from England's run, was pretty dull. Lots of negative tactics, low crowds, the 2nd lowest goal count per match in the tournaments history. A lot of the knockout games went to penalties. We were in an era where a few of the European superstars were ageing and we were waiting for the new brigade to emerge.I loved Euro 1996 and attitudes towards how we viewed football changed around that time. Why not atypical?I am not a fan of this multi-country strategy at all.
2026 - USA, Canada and Mexico (3)
2028 - UK and Ireland (5)
2030 - Iberia/Morocco and 3 random South American countries (6)
2032 - Italy and Turkey (2)
2034 - the whole of Asia/Oceania OR Saudi Arabia (ffs)

I just preferred the days when the hosting of a World Cup or Euros belonged to a particular country. Countries were given the chance to showcase themselves and their culture to the World in a footballing context. The concept appears to be entirely dead now, not to mention the impact it is going to inevitably have on qualification etc.Why not atypical?
100 percent - hate itI am not a fan of this multi-country strategy at all.

There is no such thing as 'the UK' when it comes to UEFA. It is a tournament being hosted by 5 separate countries, all of whom will claim they are hosting but in reality it will just feel like there is no host nation unless England get to the latter stages and happen to be playing at Wembley (like Euro 2020/1).The UK and Ireland's not really much of an issue compared with any of them though.
Both countries combined are significantly smaller in area than any of the other bids.
The travel distances are miniscule in comparison.
You could fit both the UK and Ireland in the USA by itself 31 times over.
