This makes no sense, it's like saying the snooker cue does the work or the bow does the work in archery.
Picture me rolling my eyes 🙂 it's really nothing like that, the coding that has gone in to the gameplay to take the inputs & feed it back to a visual format... Is there an auto mode where the system can play itself.. Bot matches? Case for prosecution rest m'lud..

Ahhhh, after talking to a gamer... I change my opinion... I can be a sport, or at least ultra competitive.. something about 200 key / button pressed per min swung it for me, as did banning cheats during the game.. if found to be cheating... Converted..

It really is like that though, I can understand in something like FIFA where a lot of it is scripted, a pass doesn't always go where you intend it to go but most if not all eSports aren't like that. You're working with the tool that you've been given just like an archer does with a bow and arrow, you learn how to use the tool and how it responds to different inputs/techniques.

It’s the argument against motor sport not being in the olympics though.

As even with the same engine chassis etc they argue too many variables not under human power to make it viable

Here’s the IOC ruling

the Olympic Charter prescribes that “sports, disciplines or events in which performance depends essentially on mechanical propulsion are not acceptable.”

Would Esports not be a similar quandary. Albeit electronic not mechanical.

Are you - really - competing against each other, or both against the computer.
Yes you're competing against each other and the pro's at the game are top quality standard

I use to play a game called League of Legends and managed to reach Challenger rank which is 0.014% of the 115million players and I was still way off being pro
