Escape Covid talk. I'll take you on a journey.

Land of Ancients 5.

The streets of ancient Antioch in an incredible modern 5 star hotel. Amazing mosaics. Then on to Sanliurfa, a place that attracts pilgrims from all three major monotheistic religeons.

And the final part of Land of Ancients. (There are two more programmes in the series).
Here we find ourselves in the world's oldest monument, Gobekli Tepe. When Stonehenge was built, it was already twice as old as Stonehenge is now. It's just mind boggling that Stone Age man was building complex multi-stoy buildings. It blew my tiny mind .... as did the Syrian lass :) Forgot to add, go to settings and select 1080p. The auto setings are rubbish. Best full screen too.

Just checking that those that are following these videos are up to speed before moving onto the next programme. If you could let me know, that would be great. Ta.

Programme 2. Lost Cities of Anatolia
Part 1. From sunrise on Mount Nemrut to the ballons of Cappadicia. Incredible landscape. Full screen with settings at 1080p for best quality.

Lost cities of Anatolia 3.

For all you archaeology fans, and lovers of Greco/Roman city ruins. A bit of Ephesus.

Fascinating series, much appreciated.Interesting to see Sean Locke on the thumbnail for Anatolia 3 above,8 out of 10 catacombs?

So, we reach the end of the journey across Anatolia. It's hard to know what to say about the final scene. Pamukkale is hardly a hidden gem. And the Nat Geo commissioning editor who was present on the shoot said that I would go straight to hell (for deception). I'll say more when I do a Q&A at the end but, let's say, the camera does lie. Having said that, it's a stunning finale.

I was lucky enough to make a series for National Geographic last year, following the old silk and spice routes across Turkey It was stunning and a real eye opener (some of the ancient history/archaeology was incredible).
So each day I'll post up a small section of the journey (5 to 10 mins), which I hope you will enjoy. Some fantastic scenery.

We're starting right on Turkey's closed border with Armenia, in the ruins of one what was once one of the most impressive cities on Earth: Ani.
Best watched full screen. Make sure to select 1080p in the settings (not auto).
I was in Armenia myself last summer. Had no idea the border with Turkey was closed - not that I'd intended travelling there from that direction but even so. Really must start paying attention to detail.

We filmed that day under the watchful eye of guards on both sides of the gorge. The Armenians even came down to the edge of their side to have a closer look. Then they gave us all a wave. :)
