Episode 2: Yusuf Meets...George Saville

Really good watch that. You both came across really well and I like the way you introduce a bit of humour and speak to them as a fan. Beats a "proper" media interview if you know what I mean. The players opon up more and there is less of the staged, cliche answers.
Well I am just that - a fan talking to a player. I could sugar coat his misses against Brentford but I said to him exactly what I would to a fan nexr to me - it were sitters. Obviously not meaning it in a disrespectful way and the player appreciates it as its exactly what they are thinking.

You are and the format really works. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You weren't disrespectful and I agree that Saville took it in the right way. My son (a big fan of yours by the way, we saw you at Norwich a couple of years back) was going mad when Saville missed that chance at Brentford. I had to remind him that Saville didn't miss on purpose, he wants to score. It was just one of those things. He just misjudged it got it all wrong.

Glad you enjoyed it. Saville explained it very well too and a lot of young people will be watching it so no doubt can see he didnt deliberately miss it!
As I said after your first one, you have a great skill at making people feel at ease and willing to trust you. Long may it continue. Some media folk try for years to manufacture that openness. You have it naturally.
Appreciate that thank you. Its just a normal conversation, how I would talk if i met you at a match for example.

Alhamduliah, great to see a Muslim brother representing our great club with such professionalism. Another fantastic interview Yusef can’t wait for more content. Sav is a top bloke.

It's a bit bad they are cutting so much out. Wonder why they're doing that.
No idea. There was another bit that got cut out where i asked him what player should we sign. He said Buendia or Jed Wallace then mentioned about getting Buendia sent off recently when we played Norwich. Honestly dont know why all of it got edited out as some real good answers and personality he gave

Maybe they don't want it too long, but it was a really good and enjoyable listen and I would have definitely listened to more. It's really cheered me up! Thanks :)

Jed Wallace is the sort of player we've been after for years.

Great interview, George comes across as such a down-to-earth character. It's clear we have a great bunch of lads in the squad and there's harmony within the setup, it's healthy within the dressing room. That's good to know. Hope it continues as we strengthen in the Summer. I didn't realise how happy George was to play for the Boro. haha.

Next season could be a big one for him, hope he has an even better one.

When you get around to Tav, please ask him the correct way to pronounce his surname as I don’t think I’ve heard two people say it the same way yet in the commentary.

Really good watch Yusuf, well done mate.

It's quite funny to hear two proper Londoners shooting the breeze about the Boro, so unusual. Like watching Only Fools and Horses!

The format is great. I've been to a few press conferences and most sports journos - and the questions they ask - are weird and unnatural. They have a proper agenda and have usually pre-written their headlines and try and get a soundbite out of the player to suit that; they're also a bit short on human skills and don't talk to players like they're people. Think there's a lot of ego, they make it all about themselves. Having seen a few, can totally understand why players are so guarded and trained with the media.

It must be so refreshing for a player to have a natural and open conversation with someone who just wants to have a chat, there's an art to actually being curious. And ironically the content in something like this is waay better and more interesting for fans to watch than some weird, hostile, passive-aggressive media conference. Looking forward to the next one!

Couldnt agree more. Hes a great lad.

That will be the first question for sure!!!

Appreciate those nice words mate thank you. It seems the format is a big hit with the fans

Well done Yusuf, you've taken to this like a duck to water aha, keep up the good work👍
Thanks mate means a lot

Got to be brutally honest with him. They also cut the part when we discussed his price tag and I basically said we spent a huge amount in a position we needed strengthening the least as we had Howson, Clayton, Besic, McNair, Leadbitter and Wing there at the time. He took it well and even admitted he had a shocking first season but also put it down to playing in different positions.

Theres a week break from the series so wont film this week. Will film next week and they havent told me yet
Seems the editing is down to the Boro then.... would be nice for you have a say ( wink, wink)

I guess the surprise was that nothing got edited out of the Bolasie one so it flowed naturally. The saville one had so much cut out, some understandable and others not. I definitely thiught they would show the clip of him singing Pigbag banging on the table. It was literally less than a minute if that but shows a fun side to players.

Keep em coming Yusuf 👍

I can see why they would cut out stuff about players want or think we should sign, probably want to avoid annoying any clubs if they think we're openly talking about their players, prevent any trouble with future bids etc.

Anyone know what game he said they play when talking about the celebration with Tav? Couldn't make it out
