Ennio morricone has died

Genius, his music made the films famous.

Love this and it shows how its played. I have most of his stuff on my i-pod.

The music in the Film Once Upon a Time in The West I think is his best work. The beginning of Once upon A Time in The West and in particular his musical score is one of the greatest openings to a film ever.

Once upon a time in America is probably my all time favourite film, with his score tipping the balance.

Reading the obituary I can't believe he only got one Oscar for hateful eight, and they completely ignored his spaghetti western scores.

All this stuff about Oscars being too white doesn't even scratch the surface. No comedy, no sci fi. At least they begrudgingly came around to westerns.

I just checked on wiki, and in the year he did once upon a time the Oscar was won by throughly modern Millie. Not even a nomination. Cloth eared fools.

This from twitter sums it up...

Do yourself a favour.

Watch an Ennio Morricone film tonight.

There's FIVE HUNDRED to choose from.

RIP MAESTRO

You seen the directors cut Johnny with a different ending ?
Yes, seen them both, love them both. Directors cut versions are usually an improvement, but not necessarily the case here. I liked some parts of the extended run, but i wasn't sure some worked.

Having said that I saw the short version first, so maybe thats influencing me.

I'd start with the long version, if you're watching it for the first time.

Similar thoughts myself, nice to see the direction the story could have went though, I have the deluxe boxset, great soundtrack
