England v South Africa at Durham

Home now, shower first port of call - minging.

So the game was really dull to be honest and we didn’t do enough. But a great day out with 15 friends in block 6, shame about the result.

Ditto, I've been to some warm sporting events in my time but that dwarfed it all.
Wasn't the best game I've ever been to but hats off to both sides for giving it a go in them temperatures.

Watching on Tv and amazed at the amount of people not even with a hat on.

Crazy to sit all day in this heat like that.
Yes, but it was overcast-ish quite a lot of the time so a hat made you hotter. We were in the shade until about 5.00 pm so again hats were just yet more insulation until that point.

What a scrorcher, luckily had my hat and frozen bottles of water. Was sat in the North Terrace, sun all day, with my bro -inlaw. Shame about the result, but work in progress.
Hats off (only for a brief moment), to the Trumpeteer entertaining us and the mfc red army suporters.

it was a very dull game made worse by the weather.

Neither team looked like they wanted to win the game, but South Africa can actually bat and bowl more competently.

I was however, really impressed with the event organisation, parking and getting in and out was really easy, and the medics and water stations were very well utilised.

Shame the game was cack.

It’s a good ground is Durham’s 👍🏻

Plenty of free / cheap parking around Chester le street, then a nice 10 min walk through the park to the ground.

Didn’t see any hint of trouble or pi$$ed up idiots yesterday either, probably because everyone had sunstroke 😂

TBH the game was won at the toss, whoever was going to be fielding for the first 50 overs under that sun were always going to be up against it. I was in the crowd and really struggled with the heat (i took regular breaks to find shade, had on appropriate clothing etc and have previously never had any issues with heat when i have taken a holiday or worked in very hot places).

There were a couple of mid 20's shirtless lads sat near us who had impressive mantits, set them selves the target of a pint each for every 5 overs bowled.

One fell at the final hurdle and seemed to pass out (through heatstroke of booze, its a little difficult to tell) but his mate was cockahoop to hit his 20th pint before the final over fell.

Apart from making everyone stand up when they went to the bar, they weren't any bother.

I like a drink as much as the next man, unless the next man is Boris Johnson. But...

I really don't see the point in paying for a ticket and then drinking 20 pints? You could just watch it at home and play the drinking game there, without having to disturb people by going to the bar and for a pi** constantly.
