England v Hungary 7:45pm

It’s a glorified friendly in the same way you get daft friendly tournaments like the Emirates Cup in the summer, it’s replaced the usual friendlies where you would test out players or tactics.

No, because they are still classed as friendlies.

The Nations League is not.

It's like saying Roma won a friendly tournament last season, just because it's new.

To be fair I remember being at the two warm up games at the riverside last summer and we were crap in both of those games, scoring just one goal against Austria and Romania.

Then we got to a penalty shootout from winning the Euros. So I don’t worry that much about the games before a tournament, it’s what happens at the tournament that counts.
This feels different though. I’m sorry but it does.

Did I hear somewhere that Man City are interested in him? Surely not?!

I don’t see what he offers other than charging around the pitch and smashing into people. Usually not winning the ball. Reminds me of Morsy.

the only players out of position are LB, and there are reasons for that.
Cos he refuses to call up English left backs and give them a chance and he won’t play Saka a naturally left sided player wing back from the start of a game. It’s his own fault. No one forces him to to shoehorn as many right footed full backs Into the squad. I am a huge Southgate fan and he has done some excellent work for England and in the whole we will look back very fondly but there is no excuse for these 4 games and some of the decisions he’s made in regards to the squad and team selections. Shambolic at times

Exactly. Also who planned these 4 games in 10 days at this time of the year? Madness.

Just a little while before that it was your first final for years too. Let’s have a bit of perspective eh?

I've got plenty of perspective.

I've been one of Southgate's biggest defenders on here.

4 dreadful competitive performances in a row, 2 against Hungary, and there is plenty of reason for concern.

Italy didn’t qualify. That’s football. Teams go through poor spells.

It’s not a god-given right. England are not as good as the English media seem to think they are.

And England are going through a poor spell.

Where have I said it's a god-given right?

Exactly!!

The players have two more games in September, once they have a break and come back fully fit and raring to go all will be forgiven.

Bedwetters galore tonight - France are on 2 points bottom of their group, are they calling for their manager to be sacked?

Great interview from Southgate.

Hopefully everyone can understand there's always two teams in football and your team has no right to win.

England were poor in both games against Hungary and got what they deserved. It happens. As I said previously, it's a wake up call for those who ridiculously think England should win the World Cup.
