England Team

If he can't play on the left, he needs to be dropped because he is not as good as Bellingham.

And I think he mostly plays on the left for City according to stats.
He was really poor tonight I agree, I hope he producers this tournament and I'm sure he will, you don't win premier league player of the year for nothing!!

Let’s do the positives, Guehi done well I thought and good to get a clean sheet and 3pts in the first game. I thought Declan Rice was very good as well he’s a key part of this team now.
I do think we look very unbalanced though and the better teams will find that much easier to defend against. I also didn’t think TAA was poor as such but he does look like somebody filling in a position rather than it being his own, not sure that’s the way to go in Midfield. I wouldn’t take Foden out based on one performance but he does need to offer more for England I would have liked to have seen Palmer get a shout for 20-25 minutes tonight.

A classic first game for England, 3 points and Bellingham off the mark 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.

What you talking sense for, we don't have that around here.

I know he didn’t have the best seasons but to not take Chillwell seems bizzare now. If Shaw even comes in he’s going to be shot in at the deep end in the knockouts.

Positives were definitely Jude and Saka. Also think Guehi looks like he’ll do well.

Rice is the first name on the team sheet for me.

Gallagher has been decent since coming on, wouldn't say Southgate got that one wrong.

As has Bowen.
Brought on subs to try and cling on to a 1-0. Really negative. We have got to have more aspiration than clinging on? We want to see subs come on and improve the performance, offer something different. Foden was really poor. Sakar disappeared after 35 mins. You have Eze and Palmer in great form but they are left kicking their heels. We can’t afford to have Belllingham off the pitch. Kane led the line well and drew the fouls but he ran himself into the ground. Toney would have been a strong option for the last 10 mins. Gallagher and Bowen are good club players but we had lads who were ripping up the Premier League a few weeks ago on the bench. We lost our way at 35 mins and just retreated further and further back. Needed earlier and positive changes that are simply not in Southgate’s DNA. I know it’s water under the bridge but the last 20 minutes were made for Grealish being constantly fouled and slowing the game down and having possession in their half. Much to think about over the next few days.

A great 3 points is the main positive along with Guéhi, Bellingham and Saka for 45 minutes. Bowen did well when he came on and Gallagher buzzed about in his cameo.
We looked unbalanced on the left and we need to get beyond Kane a lot more when he drops back.

100%. Agree with every word.

He's injured, isn't he?

He only played 13 minutes for Chelsea in the last 2 months of the season and none in the last month.

I thought he was back training at the end of the season which puts him back ahead of Shaw at least. If not him then definitely Tyrick Mitchell, we’d be much better off with an actual left back there than Trippier.

Shaw hasn't played at all since the 3rd of February has he?

No, but Shaw is England's first choice left back and Chillwell had an absolute stinker of an international break with England in March.

Taking one injured left back is a gamble, taking two seems pointless.

Shaw's back in full training now, so I wouldn't be shocked to see him play on Thursday.
