Yes, we can forget about hosting a major tournament again any time soon. The primary blame for this has to lie with the FA who tried to run this on a shoe string. Crowd control isn't something to leave to a few hired "security staff" and a few bits of cheap modular fencing.

Yeah the plonkers who instigated the trouble aren't innocent but if there had been proper crowd control commensurate with the number of people liable to turn up (not simply the number of tickets sold) the trouble would have been very minor. We're lucky no one was seriously injured.

The punishment was never going to impact the morons that actually caused the issue though.

They could ban fans for 10 matches and they wouldn't be impacted.

Proper punishment for those involved can only come from our end.

I was driving round the M25 on Sunday and saw an overhead sign warning motorists of potential Heavy Traffic for “A Major Event at Wembley” next Saturday. It had us racking our brains as to what it could be. When we got home we looked it up. It’s the England Women’s International v Northern Ireland. So if the M25 Traffic Controllers say a Womens Football event is “major” then by definition the Women’s Euros will be a major tournament.

We are hosting the Women’s World Cup Rugby, Cricket World Cup and Cohosting the Football World Cup all in the next 18 months. It doesn’t get any more major than that for NZ (men’s rugby excepting).
