England’s proposed joint 2030 bid

When I first heard we were looking at targeting 2030 I was excited but then I saw that it was a joint bid. With all 4 home nations and the rep of Ireland.

As There’s no way fifa will sanction 5 automatic uefa places in to the World Cup as hosts is there.
 
I would imagine it's effectively England + a few token games in each of the other countries with only England getting the automatic hosts slot.
 
FIFA haven't even decided if the three hosts for the 2026 world cup will get an automatic spot. Seems it might get a bit messy if they decide someone has to miss out.
 
Would Wales, Scotland etc drop their support for it if they were told they'd still have to qualify? I suspect they would in an attempt to get an automatic spot. I wouldn't mind if they dropped the whole hosts qualifying automatically anyway. Would give us more competitive football in the run up to it and if we didn't qualify it would be our own stupid fault. Would still be a great spectacle

It's a dual nation bid, UK and Ireland isn't it?.

Not an England bid.
 
Ireland, Scotland and England are all hosting matches at the Euros this summer and there was no guarantee that they'd be at the tournament themselves when that was accepted.

Ireland failed to qualify, Dublin is still hosting matches.

Just don't give automatic qualification, if we can't get there on our own merit, we don't deserve to be there anyway.

There are no downsides, if any of the 5 associations don't qualify then they wouldn't have been at the World Cup anyway, so what's the issue?

My point being, if Scotland, Wales, N Ireland and Ireland were told they wouldn't be getting an automatic qualification spot they (IFA, SFA, FAW, FAI) could voice their displeasure in wanting to host it in their countries, which would be catastrophic for the bid as a whole

Why would they be told that?

Perhaps, and about time, we have a side representing the whole nation, UK and Ireland both qualifying as hosts.

Of course it’s an england bid with other nations added there would be no bid without the FA and Wembley.

not sure why we need to add another sovereign nation though in The republic added. That I don’t get.

Every bid is from multiple nations.

Currently it's:

- The UK and Ireland

- Spain and Portugal

- Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile

- Romania, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia

- Morocco, with possible sharing with Algeria and Tunisia
 
2026 is US, Mexico and Canada.

48 countries there, UEFA will have to accept lower numbers getting in via qualifiers, won’t be a problem. Quite ridiculous is the fact CONMEBOL have 6 / 10 qualifying.

Would you rather Solomon Islands and Tahiti get in rather than Colombia and Chile?
 
If the hosts qualify automatically have one host, if not then have multiple.
South Africa from a football sense brought nothing to the 2010 World Cup and didn’t qualify for the next 2.
 
China will get the 2030 world cup. They have the African and most of the Pacific basin votes in the bag.

Probably a brown one.
