ENG v IND 2nd test

England are definitely winning this the hard way but I can see those "Smith and Bashir - Miracle of Edgbaston 2025" T shirts being printed as we speak.

After that dismissal Woakes can definitely do one now…yesterday’s man and never likely to do anything in Australia!

Wonder what india will do next test. Who will they drop to get Bumrah back in. Siraj and deep have been superb, but dropping anyone else would me going in with no real front line spinner or lengthing their tail.

I genuinely hope Stokes comes out with some contrition, he's done the team over with this arrogant obsession with chasing anything.

Bowling was poor first innings, but had no chance second after no real rest between innings.

We cannot chase 400 every test.

That is exactly what it is…. It’s arrogance!

England should have batted first. Putting India in, gave them the best chance of winning the test and getting back into the series. That was foolish at best. I’m not saying England would have scored 500+……but after the first test and then facing a 500 first innings total….. that’s s long way behind for India. Just didn’t make any sense at all.

Credit where it's due - India are a very good team who've played very well throughout most of the first two tests. Most other countries would be 2-0 down in the series now.

It's hard to say that a 336 run defeat is down to the toss - on the balance of play they've been far better than we have.

That's the point, India are a very good team and to win, you need to give your side the best chance to do so. We definitely did not do that by bowling first on a road in the best conditions of the game.

That's the arrogance, I don't believe Stokes/management respected India's bowling attack without Bumrah here. The bullies got bullied.

I agree with you that on this occasion we should have batted first. Playing devil's advocate, Stokes would probably argue that batting second and playing on the psychology of Leeds and earlier matches gave us the best chance of winning. Ulimately, they outplayed us over the 4 and two thirds days and it's unlikely we'd have beaten them whatever we did with the toss.
