Decent start from us after putting them into bat.

Ind 21/1 after 10.4 overs.

Harsh not out call from the umpire there with no shot offered

That being Umpire's Call seems like b***ks.

It seemed to be fully hitting even from the graphic.

Thought it looked dead on first viewing. Couldn’t believe he gave it not out. It was a lot closer on the replays.

Paul Reiffel would have had his finger up before it even hit his pad.

Getting the impression that Jaiswal has heard about all the chat about Duckett being the best all-format opener in the world and has said "hold my beer".

Phenomenal talent who annoyingly loves playing against England.

Big wicket from Stokes - Jaiswal takes a big waft and caught behind

Broad can't believe his luck calling it on comms

Starting to get a little bit tired of these English surfaces. In the past we've typically been too far the other way and favouring bowlers, but its starting to feel like getting blood out of a stone to take a wicket.

Fun run chases don't get me wrong and our batter's averages will love it, but 450+ v 450+ each game of a 5 match series will start to get a little tiresome.

Saying that, would be amazed if they make Lord's a road for the next test.

To be fair, the lack of rain isn’t helping either.

Yes, you can water etc. but it’s a drop on the surface which quickly dries out.

Even in local league cricket, I’m seeing some of the driest pitches I’ve ever came across for this time of year. Some aren’t very fun to bat on. Crumbling for fun and it’s only July!

They were complaining about The County Championship and bowling friendly pitches a few years back. Yet the there’s been big scores this year - it’s purely down to the weather. Overhead conditions play a big part. No clouds / rain / humidity etc. will mean very little swing.

That aside, this isn’t the worst preparation for Australia either. Whilst their pitches are a little faster and bouncier, it’s often hard work to take 20 wickets (if you’re an England side at least!)

The kookaburra ball being introduced is the reason behind this last round's huge scores - e.g. Surrey's 800+

and unfortunately for us Australia's pitches are currently very much like traditional English ones... just in time for the Ashes and our assembled lineup of brittle fast bowlers.
