Emily Atack - Asking For It (BBC)

It truly blows my mind that 40ish random people every single night send her pictures of their wiener. What are they hoping she will say in response? Can sort of understand people DMing trying to flirt on the completely deluded premise that she might like their banter and agree to a date (even though she'll obviously ignore 99% of DMs), but going further than that just seems bonkers.

It's the name of her documentary but yes. If you don't know that it does look like atypical has started a thread channeling his inner "Nuts/Zoo magazine" 😬😂
Ha, maybe I should have been clearer. The purpose of the programme is to get the message across that she is absolutely not asking for it.

Can DM settings be set to people who you only follow?
I've no idea, I'd imagine not since she gets so many of these messages.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I've never done anything slightly desperate in my youth but sending pics of my knob to a celebrity I've never met is one I have never even considered trying!

Glad to hear it mate.

I think the internet has had a massive effect on how people behave.

Porn has helped create a dehumanising effect on how people behave towards others. Young people’s perceptions of sex and relationships can be really badly skewed by what they see on line.

I am told that some people watch porn on their phones when using public transport, have not seen that happen myself but if it is true it’s quite worrying.

The anonymity of the internet is a factor as well. Trolls in most cases wouldn’t say boo to a goose in real life but can be quite extreme with apparent anonymity.

I think you're right about all of that, but what I struggle with is that they can't offset that vs normal interactions in real life and process that it's not the reality. Most people do i suppose and those concerned are a minority, but a sizable one.
