Edinburgh makes vegan menu mandatory

I sort of agree with you there. My daughter is vegan and lives in Edinburgh but she's never found it difficult to find something on a menu in a restaurant/bar she likes. Probably a bit of overkill there.

Its just schools and hospitals isnt it? Not the whole of Edinburgh I doubt. Still quite restrictive

Where's this from?

On face value it does sound rather sinister.

Are they making the vegan restaurants serve a nice dirty beef burger as well to even things up? 😉

They`re taking my sausage off my plate.
Sausage Fascists!

I'm all for the vegan options but that is what it should be, an option to choose for yourself what you eat. The fact people in these institutions are being dictated to what they can eat is scary.
Are they going to take ham sandwiches etc off kids if they bring them into schools?

Seems a strange decision.

I know some places have been going for vegan days of the week, which I'm not opposed to, but to ban meat in its entirety seems off.

That article's incredibly light on detail. The closest to specifics is "a commitment to support vegan meals over animal goods" which could mean anything really.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if all this turns out to be is a mandate to ensure that these institutions offer several vegan options rather than some derisory afterthought of a dish.

Still, if it gets the clicks...

Edinburgh Council themselves are very light on the details too.

Looking in to it, it reads more like it's a long term goal rather than an immediate ban on all animal derived foods.
