Eddie Howe - next Celtic manager

He's 1/16 now, so assuming its a done deal. Feels like its not the best move for him personally. Thoughts?

Spurs are really running out of options. Could Bielsa do the dirty on Leeds after saying he wasn't interested? He's really messing them about over his contract.

I guess Paolo Fonseca is now available. I think Nuno is the right fit for Spurs.

Rumour is Mason is going to be offered a full time contract to get the fans back onside.

I thought Howe had already accepted the contract offered to him?

True, but can't see Ashley pulling the plug on Bruce?
I agree that Ashley won't give Bruce the bullet to avoid any pay offs, but he certainly should go, Newcastle have been awful.

Regarding Howe, I don't get the hype over him, he's not really done anything other than get a well funded team promoted out of the Championship.

I think you ought to check his management history a bit better. Yes, even including his Burnley stint.

Bielsa always leaves it until the last minute before signing up... he can get away with it while he continues to perform.

The Celtic job is a dead end for any manager tbh.
Unless you win EVERYTHING like Rogers you'll be deemed a failure..... at the end of the day you only have to be better than one other team.

I don't actually think he'd do well at a big club in the Premier League.

Seemed completely unable to organise a defence in the top flight, but scored enough goals to make up for it.

Celtic don't really need to worry about that except in 4-6 matches a season.
I'm sure he'll do okay up there and he'll probably wind up back at a club like Palace in a few years.

How on earth is that going to get fans back onside? Kane/Son aren't going to stick around to play under him in my opinion. Mid-table next season and Mason will be out on his ear.

After getting Bournemouth promoted to division one, Howe was announced as the new manager of Burnley and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with them. Burnley finished 8th in season 2010/11 and 13th in in 2011/12. Howe left Burnley in October 2012 He left Burnley in October 2012 for personal reasons.

And as I said, he got Bournemouth promoted by winning the Championship in 2014/15 after finishing runners up in division one 2012/13.

That doesn't make him a great manager.

Any manager taking a team from the 4th division to the Prem and keeping them there a while has done great things.

Again, the Toon Army will be disappointed with this as well, they’ve been wanting him for quite a while.
I'm disappointed. Would have had him here in a shot. At least we would not be looking forward to another 12 months of short term sticky plaster team building. Could have been around to lay some foundations for the future.

The big question mark for me is can he do it at another club, accepting he did great things at Bournemouth.

Apart from a failed spell at Burnley, he's never been at another club, since a kid.

Not a top club, but Celtic couldn't do much better. I'd take him if I were most PL clubs.
I've always had a dislike for him (it doesn't show, I know 😁) and think the persona he displays is too good to be true. There's got to be a darker side 😁.

Personally I think he will end up on the British Manager Club merry go round with Pulis, Allardyce, Hodgson, Pardew, Monk and co and jump from one club to another.

He is no better than any of them.

A couple of poor results in his first few months or so will see the fans turn on him very quickly I reckon. They won't take to his smug face and he'd be gone pretty swiftly.

Bournemouth under Howe seemed to score lots of goals and not worry too much about how many they let in - which would seem like the perfect system in Scotland where as Celtic manager youre one of 2 decent teams in the league. But also as Celtic manager you either win the league or youre nowhere.

At Newcastle he would just be Steve Bruce in a blonde wig - the club is the problem, not the manager
