Eat out to help out.... it begins!

Whilst I don't have an issue with the fast food chains taking part (franchisees still need to pay bills) I'd implore people to support independent places, we don't have the back up like the big chains do.
Fully agree, and I dare say I will do exactly that for the most part. But I just can't think of a way of banning American chains from the initiative without it being very hard to fairly implement.

As promised earlier the 1st update from the eat out to help out bonanza!

Opted for Saltburn. Rapps was full so headed to Vista Mar for tapas. Unfortunately they now have a ridiculous rule not allowing under 12s so no good for my 6 year old daughter. Eventually ended up at The Spa Hotel. The mrs is gluten intolerant and they had a gluten free parmy on the menu something which is quite rare so headed in.

Lots of space, one way system, table service.

I opted for the katsu chicken with jasmine rice and tripled cooked chips. Mrs - gluten free parmy and triple cooked chips. Child’s meal of sausage mash and beans. 2 pints of coke and a J20. I would normally have a beer but selection wasn’t upto much.

Katsu Chicken - pretty poor and tasted like it had been made out of a chip shop curry sauce packet mix. Chips were decent the only plus point.

Gluten free parmy - all got eaten. Seemed decent enough. No salad though which was abit strange.

Total cost £21.

Coopers EOTHOB (eat out to help out bonanza) rating

2 stars - based on the gluten free option and decent chips. If I had paid full price I’d have been livid.

Left over pork Sunday lunch for tea so no more trips today. Next update shortly. Could be a breakfast option shot in for good measure also

Randy - I’ll pop in for lunch rather than an evening meal. Your place is on my certainty to visit

My wife and daughter went to our local cafe today for lunch with a friend. She says it was nice to get the money off, she felt she was getting a bargain, which she was. The friend was an anesthetist so I gave my wife the money to buy her and her little boy lunch as a bit of a thank-you.

All that said, I can understand peoples skepticism when you can't have a friend round your house, but you can eat in a restaurant, but we all know why that is, I am sure, and it is nothing to do with staying alert or controlling anything. On the flip side, we all want our local eateries to stay in business.

we are all paying for the 10 quid off, via every-bodies taxes.

its not OFF, its diverted to all those sensible folk who are taking the difficult option on the menu and ensuring those who are most vulnerable are not off their mortal coil unnecessary.

#guineapigs.

Cheers Cooper, I'm back home at the weekend and was weighing up Spa v Ship on Sunday (not EOTHO). Previous experience would suggest Ship is the better option but your review just about confirms it.

Can't wait for a proper Teesside (Yorkshire?) Parmo the size of my forearm :p

Lets solve the coronovirus problem by stuffing our faces with saturated fat and giving our money to multinational corporations(y)

Lets get the nation fat again(y)

Lets get the NHS coronary departments to deal with the effects of obesity and diabetes - as if they hadnt got enough to do.

Why on earth do you think only meals loaded with saturated fat would be available? It will be the full gamut of eating establishments available. People have freedom of choice to eat what they want Roofie.

This is about the Governments priorities and taking responsibility to protect all of us.
Its not about "choice" - its highlighting the complete lack of informed judgement, planning and protection by this Government.
Hospitals and Care Homes still havent got enough PPE - all we get is smoke and broken promises.
70.000 plus deaths and rising.....thats whats important.

The Prime minister promises us bowling alleys and macDonalds whilst millions face the dole queue and people are still dying.

Bowling alleys are closed roofie.

😉

Just sat down for the first time since 5pm.

Absolutely fantastic night.

Yeah timely review then. As say Rapps and Vista Mar we’re ahead but busy and a daft rule ruled them. Going to York Wednesday so will be a review from there and tea possibly too.

Great news Randy. Looks like the incentive is doing it’s job. Certainly seemed that way in Saltburn

Don't tell me sales of Death By Chcolcate and Sticky Toffee pudding won't be going through the roof.

Despite the 'eat in only' rule, loads of places with no eating in facilities round here are listed on the website. What's that all about?

We decided last minute to try and eat out somewhere on our way home
at around 20:30. Must’ve tried more than 10 places either by phone or online but couldn’t get in any. Must be popular!

Me and the Mrs went out to a pub tonight in one of the villages between stokesley and the A19, was absolutely packed, we’ve been a number of times on a Monday precovid and it’s been dead, just us and another 2 tables full.

got £19.40 off our bill, £50 turned into £30 with starters and mains half price we’ll have to cane this I think!

No idea, but just seems a bit weird they're listed but surely can't be offering the discount. Dunno.

Any examples if in Teesside see if I recognise anyway...

That’s the spirit Gravy.... all aboard the bargain express
