Eat out to help out.... it begins!

Used it repeatedly, but I'm going to give the last few days as a miss as I've ran in to issues with my meals with how busy it's been.

I largely don't blame the staff, but I'm still going to wait till it's quiter again to go back out.

Went to Tomahawk Steakhouse on Monday, having been before and loved it, ordered a Wagyu ribeye and the steak was absolutely smothered in garlic butter to the point that I couldn't really taste the meat.
I'd ordered the same thing last year and there wasn't a drop of garlic butter on it.
I'm suspicious that it was done to cover up a lower than normal quality cut because of the demand.
Ruined the meal a bit considering the price, but I'm very hesitant to complain at the best of times and given how busy it was, I felt even less inclination to do so.

yeah it’s a common thing people say “I saved £x” while spending a tidy sum, guess it’s a turn of phrase. It’s definitely cost you and your overall balance is lower, you just spent less than if you were doing those activities anyway at full price. But would you have without the discount? Debatable.

we’ve eaten in places we otherwise would not have gone to so it’s been good in that respect
Yeah me and the wife are getting to the point where we can't afford to save anymore.

A bit of a heads up, my wife and I went to a local hotel in Dunstable, The Old Palace Lodge if you are ever in the area. The food was excellent, but, and here is the heads up, I wanted to tip the staff as I saved £30 and whilst I could tip using my card, the waitress told me that the company keep it. My wife looked this up after complaining to MGM, the owners. In any event that is quite common practice, so be sure to tip with cash and ask if you are tipping with your card.

The food was the best I have had for ages BTW.

I don't live a million miles away from Dunstable, may have to check it out, it looks nice. If you live over this way. I recommend the Thai in Aspley Guise, the Thai style garden area is amazing, one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while.

I'll give that a go Jostler. On the subject of Thai, we have a thai friend who eats in the thai greasy spoon on the mall indoor market. The food is very spicy but cheap and tasty.

Back out tonight, not as fancy as last night. Just Central Park (Redcar)

Think Central Park is ok these days Cooper. Got to be better than the meal I had at Uni Momento for lunch. Half pizza half pasta. Bolognese pizza was nice but not very warm. The pasta though. If I couldn't make a better Arrabiata than that I would show my @rse in Binns window. To be fair the other 3 meals were fine. Not sure why I even ordered my meal as it's something I do at home now and then.
Place was mobbed with a steady queue outside. Likewise Manjaros up the road.
