Wil still do routes from there but no perm staff or facilities

Travel industry is utterly shafted atm; going to be interesting to see how much teesside airport is gong to cost the councils over the downturn as can’t see there being demand for low cost carriers kicking their doors in to set up shop.

Teesside fly to domestic on the vast majority of flights. Might be interesting to see if people decide on uk city breaks rather than going abroad. The airport may just have stumbled upon a winning strategy for a couple of years whilst other airports feel the crunch.

EasyJet have also announced over 700 pilots are losing their job.

The airline industry is pretty much over till next spring / summer .... at the moment it's like they've hit the iceberg (coronavirus) and they're now trying to save the Titanic - it won't work

I understand all the profits are in the summer months to help them through the winter months - but yeah it isn't looking good for a lot of them.

Another 'kick in the teeth' is most air hostesses work in the bars / cafes during the winter months

My sons try to book work flights where ever it is in the world using KLM Schipol, making home leg easier DTV.

I can see us having a choice between Luton, Stansted and Heathrow for the majority of flights shortly. I hope I'm wrong but I fear there's a massive risk of a re-trenching into the south of England and a widening of the North-South divide. I'm sure there are about 15% of this country's administration who believe Hadrian's Wall is 5 minutes away from any point on the M62. The more I hear about the M62 corridor the more I fear for this region.

Surely they’d still rather drive than get on a plane with people, and even domestic flights will have to fly reduced capacity. Bens plan assumed rising passenger numbers each year and the on boarding of a low cost carrier to attract the holiday crowd. The downturn in 2007 was what stopped Peel’s record passenger numbers for teesside airport and sent them crashing as people just stopped flying.

Bens plan also required investment in facilities of 6-10m incurred in the financial year of 2021, can’t see that happening in a rush now. Clinic is going to be against the wall and I suspect teesside airport is going to be like swimming with a concrete necklace on for the next few years.

Not just city breaks but summer holidays too. Just looking into it at the moment.

Looks cheaper to fly and stay in a hotel abroad than take the train and self cater here though.
