Ear syringing?

Never had it done, nor had any real issues with my ears. I just clean them with cotton buds which im well aware you're not meant to. Im now wondering if i have alright hearing, or do i have a problem, wax, etc but because its always been this way am i just used to it?

I'd be scared i got it done and start hearing stuff ten mile away like Batfink.

I've booked in for next Thursday, I'll update if it's a success or I'm deafened.
I only ever get it done if I've gone totally deaf in an ear, usually because water has got behind the wax. First time they still used the massive stainless steel syringe and I had to hold a kidney bowl under my ear to catch the water and debris. I'd been working at Redcar Coke Ovens at the time and the stuff that came out was horrendous .... and lots of it. Subsequently they've always used some pulse jet gizmo that also heats the water to body temperature. Its's marvellous when it's all cleared out and you can hear again.

Usually they advise using ear drops prior to syringing to soften the wax (never clears it). If you do, just use olive or peanut oil because some of the over the counter ear drops can be quite aggressive and make your ears sore.

That does make me think I probably don't need it, because I'm not close to deaf in either ear, they just feel stuffy and click when I move my jaw (though I'd guess that's the tubes not the ear canal).

I might be trying to solve a problem that isn't there.

Had it done at the place Zorro suggested. In and out in no time, pain free hoovering of the lugs. Phoned this morning and had a spot at 11 o'clock. Hearing is much better.

Thanks for your help.
Glad you got sorted

It feels odd doesn’t it as it hard to describe until you’ve had it done.

It won’t do you any harm though, it’s a very safe procedure these days. Might just get rid of that stuffy feeling.

Saying that, I don’t really give a f**k whether you get it done or not. 😂😂

That's where I go with mine.
I went earlier this year as one of my ears was virtually blocked and it was doing my head in!
When she looked in she also checked the other ear and said it could also do with a clearing.
Back then it was £40 for one ear or £60 for both 😀
Very professional and felt sooooo much better afterwards!
They were telling me that some wax softener drops the pharmacy prescribe actually coat the inner ear and make it more difficult to clean the ear out! Gave me some good advice….only ever apply olive oil….to soften

Had it done couple of months ago, feels really good after you’ve had it done and my own voice sounds a lot more clear. Would recommend to anyone.

Got mine for free through GP due to headaches and ear ringing

Eek didn't know they'd stopped syringing.

My left lug blocks every couple of years. I just grabbed the babies medicine syringe (one not being used, don't worry) just last week for the first time in years, filled the sink with warm water and proceeded to empty the contents. Feel much better now but didn't realise it wasn't recommended anymore😬

I've got the premium detachable ones 🤣
Are they reversible like Rishi Sunaks.

On a serious note I have used ear drops with baking soda active ingredient. My doc told me one of my lugs was completely blocked. £5 on drops - had it clear in a couple of days, just dissolves the wax away and it pours out.

I wouldn't use peanut oil if I were you. I had a blocked ear and used peanut oil in it to loosen the wax. Went out on a date and ended up back at her house. We were getting a bit amorous and she started kissing my neck and then my ear. Turned out she had a nut allergy so spent the rest of the date in A+E.
