Dwight Gayle

I’d much rather Armstrong over Gayle, I just can’t see Gayle having any hunger left and not sure he has the right attitude. That West Brom season he got 23 they didn’t go up, he scored plenty but the team did much better without him the year after when they did get promoted. I remember hissy fits and tantrums whenever he was substituted and a player who only scores and doesn’t bring anything else to the team when he’s on a dry patch.

I'm on the fence but trust that Wilder knows all about him and is confident he fits the system. Wouldn't say I'm particularly excited but hopefully he'll smash it.

Maybe in a minority here, but I wouldn’t want him. It smacks of Ross McCormack all over again the amount of times we’ve been in for him.

32, hasn’t played regular football for a good few years now. Had a couple of bad knee injuries too.

Gayle, was, very good at this level a few seasons ago.. let's hope, if he signs, he's still got the game..

Darlow similar, 32 & hardly ever been a starter...

We can easily forget - but we cant compare past regimes to the quality and talent, coaching ability and expertise - which we now have in Chris Wilder and his Management and Coaching Staff.
We have a backroom staff with vast experience from amongst the top teams.
He`s brought in proven experts in their field - not his "mates" - unlike some previous Managers.
If they did`nt believe they could get a tune out of Gayle, Armstrong, Darlow and anyone else - they would`nt sign them.
We are not just on a new journey in the same old bus - with a touch of paint, a brush of tyre-blacking and some new blinds: this is lift-off time.
I predict this will be like the new Robson era - without the boozing culture - but with a team who can entertain, attack, come from behind, hold their own against the best and win far more than they lose or draw.
We had a glimpse of just what to expect last season - even though Chris only arrived after 17 games. That bus had cross-ply`s mixed with radials.
I`l try to remain pragmatic and not too optimistic.....but its difficult (y)

"Only scores and doesn't bring anything else" is better than the usual doesn't score or bring anything else we have become used to.
