Dwight Gayle to Stoke confirmed

Massive mistake this….natural goalscorer in the region gone.

He'll get goals as long as he stays fit. My worry for stoke is the defence. Their best defender is out until christmas and their CBs are sloooooooow. Flint and Jagielka would have to sit very deep or be vulnerable to the counter. Will Gayle really put the effort in for a losing team? Not sure he will.

They lack any decent width too, plenty of quality in the middle of the park though.
 
If we had signed Gayle it would have being as a squad striker to me opposed to playing week in week out.

He was a quality striker in the past, but posters have to be careful of projecting a players form in their peak year with what they do aged 33.

Aye, massive mistake by the club not paying him his massive wages for 2 years when he has barely kicked a ball for a few seasons. Give it a rest
 
The fact he has gone to Stoke makes me think we have dodged a bullet, they love wasting money on ageing players with little output or sell on value.
 
Let’s bookmark this thread, I think We’ve dodged a bullet here. His legs have gone due to age/injuries.
 
2 year contract. That's a fair few quid for someone who's hardly played in 18 months.

A massive outlay if he's a crock. I think many just think of his spell at WBA and Newcastle winning the league. This was a few years ago now.

Newcastle fans say he's never been the same since getting injured.
 
I agree I think we’ve made the right decision given the factors involved but let’s be honest no one knows.
 
We've made the right decision assuming we get someone in who is good. He may have injury issues but I still think he will score goals, 2 year deal but no fee

Jacob brown got 14 goals last season, Lewis baker got 8, if Gayle can get 10-15 goals that's not a bad Investment and will see them do well.
