Dutch Eredevisie declared null and void

Not sure if there are no winners or losers. The bottom sides are clearly benefitting massively (I know that's not what the OP meant).

I think you'd have to compensate teams missing out on promotion. That's the major issue in this country that I imagine isn't as much of one in the Netherlands. Chances are Leeds and west brom would have gone up. That's hundreds of millions you're talking about and that's the problem.

The thing for me is there is no way you can guarantee player safety probably for the foreseeable future. Tests for players ahead of other members of society would be sickening.

Take away the cash, as the lower leagues have, and there is only one answer.

Whatever we are told publicly, this will happen as there’s no way clubs will risk the insurance on their players being out at risk.

re starting the season will involve full screening of all those involved

It’s the only “fair” way

End it move on

but no we don’t be doing that it will upset Leeds liverpool etc. So why are ajax psv any different.

Well done Holland

Btw allkmaar are joint top as well.
"but no we don’t be doing that it will upset Leeds liverpool etc."
One of you're daftest statements - and that's saying something!

Having watched all the games through the season then I feel totally part of the process - I feel insulted that people just say it is down to money and that cancelling is the only fair outcome. It will be really tough on everyone that has been part of the season - it will be very hard to grasp that it doesn't count for anything at all. That every game, every goal, every stat and every bit of emotion from every fan didn't matter at all.

So what is it you have an issue with then?

why is it so daft as Leeds have already sought legal advice as have several other clubs.

But it did matter but it was an extraordinary time and as such you need to just accept it and move on.

people are die ing people have died we are in a time we’ve never seen before.

well done Holland 🇳🇱

The KNVB added: "Aware of the different visions and interests for the clubs, the KNVB is aware that whatever decision had to be made, every option would hurt somewhere.

"It will be crystal clear to everyone involved, from supporters and players to directors and referees, that public health always comes first.

finally an honest approach as no solution will please everyone

so only fair option is to start again.

So do appearances count under this nul and void idea? If someone made their debut this season have they actually played for us?

The stats remain as do the goals it’s just that no relegation or promotion takes place. It removes this push to re open as well.

I find that a very strange reply Rob.

You aren’t the only fan who will be aggrieved that the season could end prematurely but I would like to think we all understood why.

One thing that can be guaranteed, you will not be at every game next season; and then tell me it is not down to money.

The problem with continuing after June is that players will be out of contract. Some players will want to move on, some clubs will want rid of players.

Yesterday, Professor Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer said that "social distancing could stay in place for the rest of the year".

Now you could probably playout fixtures behind closed doors if you can test all the players and staff who have to be present, you could maybe do that and televise/stream the top two divisions. If, as might be likely from that statement that no big crowds will be allowed THIS YEAR. Voiding the season becomes not just the best option bbut probably the only one.
