Durham police now formally asked to find out the facts

The police and crime commissioner for Durham is to formally write to the chief constable of the force he oversees asking for an investigation into Dominic Cummings.

Steve White, the acting police, crime and victims’ commissioner for Durham, will on Monday ask the force to investigate all the claims about the prime minister’s principal adviser’s time in the Durham area during the coronavirus lockdown and establish the facts.

I presume the Met will be interviewing this pack of rabid dogs as well.

Large group gathering of people not from the same household clearly ignoring the rules on social distancing.

I expect all of these will also be required to resign from their jobs. It's not as if they have any good reason. like the welfare of their child, for doing so.

Actually given that hypocrisy runs in the media and the liberal left like rats through a sewer I don't expect that they will resign.

Two wrongs don't make a right Konrad and had Cummings not made the trip or trips to Durham then they wouldn't need to be there.
Don't let a bit of whataboutery disguise the true story.

Did Boris get interviewed by the Met for boasting that he gladly shook the hands of Covid-19 patients in hospital or for convening Cabinet Meetings where social distancing was not practiced?

That is ridiculous and they should face consequences for it.

But why are people using this to excuse his behaviour? Yes the media were out of line here but that doesnt make any difference to the Cummings situation

Not "whataboutery" just highlighting the blatant hypocrisy and politicising of this. Do you think they should be exempt ?

Whatever his did or didn't do the fact is that Cummings despised by the remain faction for being the architect of Brexit. Isn't it odd that there was no such media frenzy against Stephen Kinnock or the Tahir Ali who travelled miles to a funeral, also attended by over 100 people.

Totally different.

Both are MPs in the opposition party so what exactly are they to resign from?

Both apologised.

Neither one of them was the architect of the Government's 'stay home' instructions.
They should give up their seats and resign as MP's

I'm not using this as an excuse but I expect consistency.

Or is it just Tory MP's or advisors who have to resign in these cases.

Please tell me you understand why it's such a bigger deal with Cummings though Konrad. Both are wrong, but it's not like for like.

The examples you cite don't carry the same risk of undermining lockdown compliance. You get how it's worse if it's done by someone who has had a key role in drawing up those rules don't you? You can't be that thick.

To be fair in a position of that power, especially when you break your own rules you have to expect to face tougher punishment than the member of public doing a standard job.

Not sure why the met would interview Boris when social distance and lockdown measures weren’t in force when he shook hands with patients.

Why did the retired teacher who saw him not complain to Durham police at the time of the sighting? Why did he instead of reporting it decide to phone the guardian/mirror?

And now if the police find nothing... it’s a cover up. But you believe what the police says if it’s anti government.... find nothing and it’s a cover up. Can’t win can they

I get how the media turn it into a frenzy because of who he is, and no I'm not thick but thank you for asking .

It still remains to be seen if he actually broke lockdown compliance. If so then he should face the consequences and resign. As should the two labour MP's I've highlighted who actually admitted to breaking lockdown rules. These are MP's and not just Joe-public or even reporters. Or is just saying sorry enough for our elected representatives, so long as they represent the "right political party".

Durham police have been formally Asked now to provide an official response. To clarify exactly what happened the facts.
I think that’s a good idea but I’m confused why they don’t have this information at their fingertips - do they not write reports anymore!

Seeing as it was Cummings' beloved employers who blocked Leveson II, he can f**k right off. No space for complaining about the conduct of a press who his lot are actively protecting.

I think the point is being entirely missed here.

Cummins, who is instrumental in the lockdown rules, has ignored them. Irrespective of him having a hand in the rules, he should have respected them and has not. That is not really the issue though is it?

The issue is people having any faith in a government who circled around to protect him. They did this by lying to us all. The issue is bigger than Cummins breaking lockdown rules. It is the governments disregard for the electorate to the extent they will lie to us to protect Cummins. Surely we all see this, right?

The anger levelled at Cummins is for a slightly different reason. People generally expect their politicians to lie and cheat, they are generally not held in very high regard. What has angered people is the effect that the lockdown has had on them. couples having babies, who they couldn't then introduce them to their grand-parents, who then subsequently died.

Not being able to comfort a dying child.

Not being able to comfort a dying parent.

Not being able to say goodbye at a funeral.

These things directly effect people at a deep and empotional level. Meanwhile Cummins does as he pleases. He placed those suffering in this position, and did what he wanted, regardless of the law. That is why people are angry.

Before you support this awful government spare a thought for those who have suffered loss that has been compounded by the current legislation, legislation that Cummins ignored. Then post.

Looking at the timeline, there was a change of guidance in the week before his alleged visit to Barnard Castle, which may be his get out of jail free card.
